quick question for those with slide-out cooking systems

For those of you who have a stove on a slide-out in the back of your SUV, do you ever have an issue with food smells being absorbed into the fabric of the vehicle's interior?

That is a great question, as I just finished my setup over the holidays.
Have not used it yet, but looking forward to it.
I sure hope the cooking smell does not get absorbed into the interior.

Your setup looks like it is offset enough to exhaust the smells, but a lot of setups have the stove sitting right by the bumper and next to the rear door.

If you are a once a month camper, not really. If you use the stuff on a regular basis of course it will. That's the trade off of having all that stuff readily accessible. That and if you didn't plan for an awning over your hatch or door enjoy cooking in the rain. That's why I never went hard mount with anything other than a fridge.

This is why I am asking questions before putting a plan into motion, about to design a rear drawer setup and reconfigure the roof rack. Although we do not get a lot of rain there will be a rear facing awning, I think I might mount a fold-down shelf to the rear door for the stove to keep it portable and not bolted to a slide.

Yes, plus I can always just set the stove too on a table.
I do have an awning that will be overhead, and I think there is enough roon to even setup one of my small camping tables underneath it in the rain.
It is nice to have options.
The whole reasoning I designed this new setup was to have the option of not having to take the chuckbox out of the rig, unless I wanted too of course.

I have my set up on the rear of my 60... drawer slides out and a table slides out from under the drawer....
I used a lower "h" aluminum extrusion to avoid having to use another set of bearing slides...
The table has two 5" holes for the cheap stoves I use...
If I need to cook on a table I only have to get the stove and cook where ever I need to...
My awning sits on the driver side but can swingout to the rear of the vehicle incase of rainy weather....
If windy I can close the upper hatch of my truck and not have to worry about smoke or smells going into my rig...
