How did I miss there was an e39 earlier in the thread, I used to drive my buddy's e39 M5 on occasion until he sold it, something about getting caught going almost 130 in a 65 and spending the night in jail that pushed him to sell it. The sound of the exhaust when that VANOS responded at WOT was pretty sweet!

I owned a '99 4Runner SR5 4x4 with Highlander pkg (Jade green, rear locking diff, slightly higher than other years), 5spd with 3.4 V6. I had for a few years, put 45k miles on it, drove it cross counry a couple times, lots of different conditions... and at the time, I loved it. It was a good solid truck.

But I have an '06 Montero now, and I think it's just better. I'd pick the Montero.

I appreciate the responses from you helpful folks. I may have some free time this weekend to go look at one or two Monteros. Gotta make sure that "honey-do" list is completed first.
