Rain Coats

Our kids wore their Frog toggs everyday for a Canada fishing trip. We never had any problems. No rips, tears, clammy feeling. They put them on in the morning when we took off to go fishing and and took them off as it warmed up. If the boat ride got cool, they put them back on. I think in the real world uses these kids put them though, they have held up for $50. each.

My wife and I were talking about it the other day in fact. I wanted to get some rain gear for our son so we'd have it when we went camping and we can't seem to find it anywhere other than online retailers. We live in Central Florida. It rains here, Alot! Maybe not as much as Washington State but Alot more than most any place else in the States. I always had a rain coat when I was growing up, you could find them everywhere. Now, the only reason I can figure is that children aren't allowed to go out in the rain anymore. They might get wet, or cold, or something.

The best we could do for the moment locally was the cheap Ponchos you find at the hunting department at Walmart or the Sporting goods stores. Other than that, they sell alot of the Gortex, high end stuff. I just want a decent rubberized rain gear set to keep for just in case situations.

We've had good success at REI. Particularly the REI branded jackets. It's high quality gear (despite Jonathan Hansen's opinions), and not overtly sexual, so handing down between boys and girls is no problem. I buy them for my older son, and my younger daughter inherits them.

ditto the REI on the sale racks ?

REI branded was a bit more but under $50 on the sale rack and had a fleece and dry outer like a nice shell setup bought it kinda big for her and has worked 2 seasons plus she got lots of use out of the fleece liner

we also got some stuff at sports chalet on the sale racks before and one time got a nice girls jacket at costco

Yay, the wife just happened to find one at Walmart. And on clearance too. $10. Yeah, it's crappy, but didn't want to spend a ton of money on something he'd outgrow.
