Ratchet Straps - Need some good ones

Anyone recommend some ratchet straps ranging in lengths 6 to 10 feet or so? I bought some straps at Target (probably my mistake) for securing my Pelican cases and storage trunk in the back of my truck and they turned out to be worthless. I would ratchet down the straps and they appeared to be locked, but a good tug and they unrolled. Thanks.

Have you consider this type of tie down.
They are made by one of our local CSC club members.
I find them very EZ to work with and light. Available in any size or length.

I got mine at Auto Zone...$8 for 12 feet of strap, works very well nothing fancy.

I really like the Gobi system, especially after seeing it live and in person on Lance's truck but its a little pricey

I'm not familiar with these particular ones, but I assume they use toothed wheels, and two sets of teeth. A spring loaded set keeps it from unwinding when the lever is moved back to the start position. The other set is on the lever, and moves the reel. When you dong tightening the strap, are both sets of teeth engaged?

I have one strap which disengages both sets of teeth when the lever arm is advanced all the way. With that the lever arm should be returned to the start position.

Very nice. That photo piqued my interest. I like the idea of a permanently-mounted retractable ratcheting tie-down. I did some searching, and the price range on those is pretty huge. All the way from $100+ down to the best deal I've found so far: $50/pair at CargoGear.com.

I suppose there are a lot of ways a harbor freight strap could go bad, but they haven't failed me yet! I wouldn't use them to secure a motorcycle in the bed...but for 75% of stuff they work fine.

Tried several brands, best so far made by "MasterCraft" purchased at 4wheel parts. Strong enough to strap down the engine when one of my RR motor mounts broke on a trail.

Best deal I saw a month ago was a blister pack of 4 goodyear branded ratchet straps at sams for 20 bucks or so.

Walmart down here has an identical ratchet strap, just does not say goodyear, and they want 20 dollars for 2 of them.

These are bigger than the tiny ones and not huge like the monster commercial ones you can find at tractor supply.

I love ratchet straps and use these the most because they are plenty strong enough for big loads but they have a comfortable handle as well.

That's all I use, and they have never given me a problem yet. Even use them to ratchet the rear axle back into place installing lower links. Gotta love when they go on sale and cost $2.79 each!
