what did you go to? 5w40 was the sweet spot for mine. NO more consumption, No more knocking and pinging, more power, better economy. All around better engine now.

Tried that as well. You are lucky, you got one of the good ones. I wish the article I linked above had come out sooner, at least I would have known the exact areas to check.

However, at the end of the day, I have zero regrets as the I love my 2013 across the board especially now that I am towing the M101A1.

Really appreciate everyone's input. It's nice to see that these rigs are doing well with higher miles. My hope is to get at least 200k out of the motor and transmission.

200k miles (320k kms)? I mean that's not impossible. But it would really depend on how you use your vehicle.

Plan is to use it as the family adventure rig. It will spend a good amount of time off-road however it won't be asked to do much rock crawling.

It's good to see some of the mileage people have on their jeeps. My 3.6 is a tad over 3,100 miles. It's still pretty new though.

I think the unlimited models have really changed the way Jeeps are used. People are putting a lot more miles on these rigs than they have in the past. I know I plan too. My Rubicon only has 96k miles and its a 2004. I plan to put a lot more miles than 9k miles per year on it.

As said look for a 3.6, 2013+ to stay away from the 1st year head issues. The 3.8 you are taking a chance no matter the mileage, 1qt of oil per 1k is insulting.

You can certainly save money by purchasing a 07-09' just don't sell your self on that era being trouble free. I did purchase an 09 with similar logic and have not necessarily regretted it but know that there is a significant difference with the newer engine/tranny combo.

My wife and I have driven numerous 3.6 engine JKU's. and we always come to the same conclusion, yes, there is a difference, NO there is not enough difference to warrant a big fat payment.

I'm budgeting until I can get a score on a low mile last year JK. I am figuring that 16 is the last year so in 2018 I will get a granny driven unlimited and build it up.

Yes. We do. WE love our jeep. We also have a 2015 patriot, and a 2003 F150 screw. We split seat time between all three....Just because...all of the rigs are awesome.

I'm expecting 200k miles out of my 2011 with 85k miles now. It's paid off and performing great with all intended mods completed as of this month.

Everything south of the transfer case has been replaced and upgraded by mods, and I'm changing all the fluids on an aggressive maintenance schedule so I don't see 200k miles as unreasonable. I have been adding a quart of oil every 1k miles since new, all that fresh oil should keep her going... Lol

These things are so easy to maintain and get parts for I don't see why they couldn't be kept in service indefinitely. If my engine or transmission goes south I'll do a LS swap and run it another 200k... 
