Love these little things. Darkrider, I'm not sure they were a CDM vehicle, may have only been USDM; I never saw them growing up either. However, there are a few dozen in Vancouver. We have all sorts of neat stuff here, tons of imported LCs and Delcias, weird little cars, it's pretty awesome.

Subscribed for the ride. Looking forward to seeing one of these things kitted out.

That may have been the case...there was a Isuzu version of the GMT360 platform called the Ascender that was also US only. The Delcias are neat for sure...have seen a few of those in person.

VX has some Rodeo/Amigo parts, but more Trooper parts. Trooper RS (SWB) frame, Trooper drivetrain and axles.

Yup, so hopefully parts are still out there when I need them!

First: Very nice I think they are one of the coolest 4X4 ever made. They share their drive train with the Isuzu Trooper 1998 and up so parts for drive train & engine are still relatively easy to source. Body is VX exclusive but with the right connections they can be found. Like Steve said there are quite a few show up in Moab in May and they seem to keep a continuing parts swap going. Have you been to Planet Isuzu not a lot of VX stuff but plenty of 2nd Gen Trooper info Congratulation Dave

Thank you-- it's among my favorite 4x4s as well. "Easy" is all relative for parts, my last 4WD vehicle was an Avalanche which was probably the easiest "special" (not-mainstream) vehicle to find parts for ever. I'm trying to get Planet Isuzu to work but it won't send me a confirmation email...

The VehiCross is def an interesting lil unit..I remember when they came out but i do not ever recall seeing one up here in canada.

As far as I know (which could be wrong), they never sold them in Canada

It's a very cool concept, too bad there is no equivalent these days.

I guess there isn't a modern equivalent...maybe the closest thing would be a 2-door Evoque? Or a Bowler Wildcat? Though the latter may be a bit more extreme...

Canada gets the good stuff for imports! None of the weird 25-year import laws we have in the states. And thanks! It'll be a slow build but hopefully a good one...

I have never seen one, but I remember the first time I read about them...they were ahead of their time.

Dave,
Who is the young man driving the red and silver second generation Trooper in town? I've seen some of his you tube videos and watched the vehicles progression from stock to now having a lift, bumper, winch and snorkel.

There are a couple of guys on the Planet with modified VX's. Martin with the yellow one installed the super flexy torsion bar mounting system a few years ago and the fellow that made it had on on his too. Look at the Super Flexy thread on Isuzu Planet.

Hmmm funny you mention the import law thing. I believe it is 15 years for Canada... I will need to double check on that but if it is correct it does mean i could consider coming down to the states to pick up a VehiCross and import it up here.

^ yes it is 15 years. Importing from the US is a pretty painless process, just make sure you have your paperwork in order before you hit the border.

That's a pretty great idea, will look into it as I move further along. Still can't get registration confirmation from the Planet...

can I fit a car seat in there ?

I think you can, but I'm not sure you'd want to. Getting into the back is pretty difficult-- the hardest I've ever experienced-- and can only be done from the passenger side (driver seat doesn't flip forward). It's probably doable, but difficult at best.

Nice! Thanks for the tip. It turns out they did appear in Canada but are a rare sight on Kijjiji and when they do show up...the prices are a bit painful to say the least. So i may end up going with the importation plan to get one for a more reasonable price. Plus...excuse for a road trip!
