This is the old style of ARB rooftop tent pictured.

Woh, now that's a very cool KJ!

In our RTT, we store our sleeping bags and pillows in the tent during travel and storage. We have the shoe bags that hang on the ladder outside the tent to keep out shoes in at night.

It took me a while to say yes to the RTT due to price. But I must say that it is absolutely the best mod on our Truck and soon the KJ will have the ARB RTT as well.

I like the RTT, The only problem is storage. I can't fold my rear seats down because I have twin 4 yr olds still in car seats.

Good call on the DIY solution.

$1400 for a tent is absolutely ridiculous. You should be able to build it for $500 easy.

They look cool, but I don't camp in swamps so I don't really need to sleep 6 feet over the ground!

Stock roof rails will never hold an RTT, Seth (green SFA Liberty) had rails made by AllJs ( boulderbars.com) to hold his, they also did the SFA conversion

me I am building a trailer to hold an RTT, was going to do a Teardrop trailer but want to be able to camp one weekend and next weekend haul whatever I need to so a "universal " do all trailer fits my needs better, also an RTT on top of mine would not allow me into my garage anymore so would have to take it on and off all the time

Think I'm going to be going with a trailer. Don't think that the RTT would work well at this time where I don't have a lot of storage space in the Kj because I still have car seats.:arabia:

Are you sure?

From a weight standpoint, I would think they would be OK. My rack is on gutter mounts, and I crawl around on it without any worry...I'm about 230, the rack is maybe 60 lbs, and my 33" spare is probably 70 lbs.

I think you'd be OK weight-wise.
