RTT and lightning

While sitting around the fire and watching a beautiful lightning storm , the subject came up as to the safety of being in a RTT during such a lightning storm.

I'm thinking if the storm is danger close it would be best to get into the car.

Any other ideas /experiences?

Wouldn't it not work like a faraday cage and the electricity go around the outside through the aluminum/metal poles?you may end up with melted tent material though.

Thanks for the clearing up of that. Wasn't to sure myself hence the question.

I'm a soils dork not an electricity one.

Excellent concern... And definitely something I will keep in mind as a new RTT owner.

Although, now I really want to see a RTT faraday cage - Awesome!
