Got mine from EAD...it was delivered today by FedEx and appears to be pretty well made.

Helped a buddy of mine this past Sunday with his! A lot of work for something so simple! If you have rails or rockers they will also need to be removed. Took about 5 hours with drink breaks in between but overall turned out nice. I really like the fact that there's a drain at the bottom of the section behind the fender. I've been wondering tho in the winter when snow collects in the high mount and melts from the heat of the engine in that section would it expand from freezing and possibly ruin that section? Just a thought!
If there is a drain to let water out, wouldn't it also let water and dust in eliminating some of the benefits or a snorkel?
You can open and close the drain. When it's closed it's water tight.
I don't plan on installing a snorkel on my JKU. But I do have one installed on my YJ. At the time I researched the YJ issue, the Safari snorkel from ARB seemed to be the way to go. So I bought it and have been very happy with it. It's been on the vehicle for about five years.
I have been sort of keeping up with more recent snorkel developments most of them related to the JK problem. I know that ARB makes a snorkel for the JK but I don't see anybody using them. I'm wondering why. My experience with ARB products indicate they always make first rate stuff from lockers to snorkels; well designed and well made. So, whats going on with their JK snorkels? Why have you guys moved in a different direction?

A little, but it's not too bad and you get used to it quickly. I like that the high mount safari snorkel is more inboard and on the windshield compared to the AEV or ARB snorkels that would likely catch a tree limb here in PA.
I do prefer the lower expedition style for daily driving since it's slightly better on gas and rain isn't a worry. I added plugs to my passenger side windshield light so that I can switch between the expedition style lower version and the high mount safari snorkel within about 10 minutes (and back again).

First there seems to be a lot more choices out there for snorkels then there was just a few years ago. Now people seem to be for a higher entrence point then the bottom of the fender like the style discussed here or AEV that goes threw the hood.

Yes, I do see more choices. Prices are much higher too. Assuming you are right about people wanting a higher entrance point, why? What are the advantages? I don't understand.
