S-250 shelter

A few years ago I bought a military S-250 shelter. It was in excellent shape and had nothing mounted inside. No holes, just bare. the intention was dual purpose deer blind that would also double as a camper when needed.

I have been using it as storage, until my nephew wanted to use it as a blind to sleep in to hunt pigs at night. So, I built it out as a combo blind or camper.

I bought RV windows on eBay, which were just under $1k, but I’m pretty happy with them.

The bed is a very simple doubled up 3/4” plywood cut to fit very snug between the humps. Legs are plywood that are held up by pressure only. Very simple design. The bed can double as a table when the time comes

I’ll put a sleeping pad on it for comfort.

So, for now, this is it. It’s surprisingly roomy and quite comfy.

I painted the inside sage/grey. a $9 can of Home Depot oops paint.

The trailer is an M1101. I believe these shelters were designed to fit in this trailer.

I have a lot of the components to finish it out, but at the moment, I don’t believe they are necessary for a blind.

I have 200 watts of solar panels I can install on the roof, an Outback 24v pure sine inverter. I only lack the expensive batteries. I bought an Engle AC/DC fridge/freezer a few years ago and have been very pleased with it.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with how it turned out. It’s not done, but it’s done for now.

I've never seen one of these before - pretty darn cool!
Yeah, they are nifty! Walls are 1.5” thick with foam insulation and aluminum skin, inside and out. They don’t weigh too much, under 800 lbs.

The trailer is also aluminum on a galvanized frame. Tough as nails too. My opinion is that they are the coolest military trailer around. Only a smidge heavier than the M101A2.
