Well, I guess its been a while since I've been here. A lot has happened, Covid, cars, life, builds and so on. Since the last post I guess Ive done a few things. Maybe ill start there. To be honest Social media is a joke and I miss the good ole forum days. Facebook groups are about as pathetic as they get, and so is the over landing community in general. Everything is about looks and show and tell and not much use or hands on building is done anymore. Ive been debating to start posting again. And not entirely sure if i want to. But a lot has happened since I bought that Van. And a-lot is about to change.

My wife and I decided earlier this year we were tired of working, and so we sold/ closed our businesses, sold most of our belongings and as of Jan 7 2022 we will be homeless with a savings account and plan to travel. So i guess the saga of sorts does continue.

So its now Jan 10th, the move and packing is done. Ill do some photo dumping from the last year or so. I got the Van, and built it up pretty nice. Lots of nice parts, but wasn't our jam. My wife and I did a few trips with it. It worked great, but we were not in love. So after the VanLife craze took off i doubled my money and sold it.

In the mean time, I have had my wifes GX470 semi built for some
of the easier trips. Worked great, but for some odd reason these wen way up in price as well. Thankfully it was a second owner car with lower miles and i just sold it for a decent price. The overlanding market is stupid crazy right now and doesnt make sense to me. But hey, what do I know.

In the mean time had the opportunity to work on this/use it. A good friend bought it, kept it at my house. I did the work to it but got to use it if need be. Fun rig.. but again the van life wasnt really my Jam.

Good to see you posting again Marshall.
Always interesting to see what you are working on.
I finally got around to installing your old Icons on my Tundra last fall with some Archive Garage springs.

I really kind of like the look of the Ranger. I'm glad some sensible size trucks are returning to the market.
yeah it is a great truck, i sorta wish i would have sold it for a raptor though, the extra space would have been nice for our future plans.

Well its been a nightmare of a few months. As i mentioned before, My wife and I closed down our businesses, Sold the things we didnt want and moved all our stuff into storage. Before that though earlier last year i started acquiring more parts and designing a build on my ranger. We did a trip in the lexus last year and half way through the trip we said screw this.. I'm never using an RTT again. So as soon as i got home I sold it. That in turned pushed me onto the next phase. I have had this idea in my head for some time, So i said screw it, now or never. So i decided to build my own Pop top light weight camper. I have seen GFCs from day one, would have ordered an alucab, but prices and lead times were way to much and too long. I said screw it, where is the rabbit hole so i may jump down it.........First thing i did was read the entire Ridcord DIY thread over at Tacoma world. Then i busted out the ole welder and got to fabben.
Now I did not order any plans or draw any plans for this topper, i just started going at it and had a vision. Im a tall guy so i wanted it longer then a GFC, also not a wedge, I also didn't want it super heavy.

Ok now that the first phase is done, My wife and I deicded to turn up our move date. When i first started we had no plans to move. Now its on. About late october i got to work. I didnt want a wedge, and i had a 4WC sitting in my drive way so i decided to copy the logistics of opening the camper. I also wanted 1 side to open and be a table. so that got designed as well. Also you can see that i started some sliders in the one picture lol.

I decided to use a aluminum Composite material for the sides and top. I use 3mm thick on walls and top, and 6mm for the bed platform.
