Nice work there^^^^^ That is going to be perfect once finished.

Thanks! It sure is a lot of work, but it looks so nice under there now. I'm about halfway through the front, but I had to quit today because Im exhausted. I'll pick back up Sunday evening and hopefully knock it out.

So many good ideas here. Browsing for a while, but first post.

1985 4runner sr5

-5.0 HO speed density efi swap from 1988 LSC
-AOD and advance adapter to Toyota case
-63" Chevrolet rear springs
-Shackle up front with old procomp lift springs
-35 12.50 15 maxxis big horns
-Crossover steering
-Bilstein 5125s rear 5150 front
-4.10s welded rear open front
-Trail gear sliders, local Craigslist deal trail copy front bumper, home built rear bumper & tire carrier.

Its been a learning experience from the beginning, owned since 2005. It started out crawling focused, but I'm slowly making it more expedition capable. Hope to extend the range of trips beyond the familiar NC coast and Uwharrie National Forest.

Why shackles up front? I think that would make for a crappy ride. Each time you hit a bump the wheel moves up and forward but probably not much since the bump is trying to push it back...

The truck has allowed us access to go places such as:

Next week the plan is to tag along with a group of Toyota's doing the Whipsaw 4x4 trail.

You are correct. The suspension swap came together years ago on limited time, funds and knowledge. So we made it work. There are some benefits to the set up, as defended on a few Toyota threads. Every trip to URE a good bone rattling pothole on the forest service roads reminds me of my learning experience.

Don't want to redo it?

Last payment for my ’09 was automatically withdrawn from my bank account last Friday the 14th. Same day, truck rolled over 75,000 miles on a quick trip to get ice cream. It got new personalized plates to celebrate the occasion. This afternoon we drove down into Arkansas to explore some back roads.

I used 89-95 rears and am having to move my rear hanger back about 2", but it's worth it cause these things flex a lot more than stock.. I haven't finished the front yet
