I have, unfortunately, fallen in love with the TJM front bumpers that are no longer available here in the US, so if anyone knows of any that are still available or will be coming up used please let me know!!

Seems like your last chance for a new TJM bumper would be from Christo. He bought the remaining U.S. stock.

Here's a link;

I emailed him yesterday, have yet to hear back but according to the website they don't have any for the 3rd gen Runners :(

Thanks though...

A little bit late to the party, but as soon as I read that you were looking for a daily driver, I knew the 3rd Gen 4Runner was going to be the better option. I had a 98 and an 02. They were both great vehicles.

FYI, I don’t know if it applies to 97’s, but my 98 had a recall on the rear springs, due to the sag. My local dealership replaced the spring with new ones. Might want to look into that (call them with your VIN). Also recommend the CUPHOLDER MOD. Also the HORN MOD. Lastly, the stock auto antenna always tend to go out. Fix it once and for all with the TACOMA WHIP MOD

Mods I really don’t care for and you shouldn’t waste your time on:
- ISR mod
- Deckplate mod
- Any bolt-on “power” mods, unless it’s an S/C

Good luck with the 97. They’re great vehicles.

I just wanted to say thank you again to everyone for their comments and information. After having it for this last week I am now positive we made the right decision, especially after taking the truck on its maiden offroad voyage yesterday! Added bonus, its a 98 not a 97!

I guess I'm officially no longer Miss R2FJ!

Very nice. Stock for awhile? I'd at least put an ARB on it for protection.

Nope! Stock is already heading out the window with the install of some All Pro sliders yesterday:

I'll have to see what kind of cash flow I've got coming in the next month but I'm hoping to get the lift on next.

Yep! E-locker...I was concerned about it because it had maybe been engaged once ever but we ran Seven Springs on Saturday and it worked just fine in the spot I needed it!

Couple of cheap mods to do ASAP is the grey wire mod and rear diff breather extension.

Also, I had a 98 Limited that had a rear spring recall. They put in 2 new springs in the back for free. Not sure if you're looking to go with a lift right away, but if not, at least it will get you some new non-sagging springs.

Ya I was hoping to accomplish the rear diff breather extension at the mod day yesterday, but I was sick all last week and never made it out to gather the supplies. That is high on the list though.

As for the springs, its funny you mention that. Every time we went to visit Josh's parents and rode in the back of the 4Runner we noticed how much more bouncy it was...so much so you would almost get car sick! I guess this explains it....

I have a set of stock 80 series springs if you want to throw them in the rear. It's a common mod for 4Runners. I was going to throw them out if I couldn't find them a good home. I am at Ray and the 101 in Chandler.

Oh well thank you for the offer. I may take you up on that depending on what I decide to do with the suspension.
