smittybilt overhead console hard top!??

I have not heard of anyone rigging the Smittybuilt one but a lot of people have used one from eBay as an alternative. When I was looking over some threads I guess someone from one of the various JK forums is making and selling them. I have no experience with the product though.

I know it is off topic and not what you are asking for but, this works with both tops and hit up a military surplus store get bags that are 10 times better quality that Smittybuilt.

You have the overhead smittybilt console? With a freedom top using the middle footman?? If so any pics??

yes its its definitely a nice option !! Its a bit expensive but its nice! I'm interested in this!

It looks like people are drilling out the rivets that hold the footloop to the Jeep. Not something I would do but I guess it works. The overhad console has been something I wanted since I got my Jeep to but I have the hardtop also. If I come across anything Ill post it up.

I do not have the Smittybilt console, but was letting you know that the 2015 JK is not unique in using the middle footman loop as your initial post made it seem (to me at least). If you read the listing there are two versions: one for the soft top that blocks the footman loop and another for the hardtop that retains the freedom top's use of the footman loop.

Do you have any information on the Smittybilt console you are referring to? Looking at the site it shows a version for TJ's (1997-2006 or 2004-2006 for the unlimited). The second product is for JK's years 2007-2013. For the JK install instructions (http://www.smittybilt.com/docs/installation/5666031.pdf) it states to remove the footman loop and install the overhead console in its place. The TJ instructions (http://www.smittybilt.com/docs/installation/5665001.pdf) just have a clip looking thing that goes over it.
