questions on lid

Hi Kurt - Awsome job on the trailer build. I was hoping that you could give a few detail on how you built your lid. Did you combine steel and aluminum? How/what did you coat the lid with? How are the hinges done? Would you do anything different?

Sorry for all the question, justwant to get started on the right foot.

I hired a fabricator to make the lid for me. The frame is steel and the lid is aluminum. I told him the weight that it needs to support, and he ran with it. It has 3 standard hinges welded to the tub and frame on one side, and a locking latch on the other. The struts are 200lbs each. I painted the lid with black rust-o-lium paint, rolled on. Its been over plenty of low speed rocks and mid speed wash board, and has held up fine.

Kurt - Thanks for the lid info. Need to make something for mine, just trying to do it on a budget. Good luck with the sale, I wish it was closer to Houston.
