For Sale: 2000 Toyota Tacoma 1st Gen
Only 88k miles, 5 speed, 4x4, 3.4 V6, I bought this truck from the original owner who purchased it while living in Southern Colorado and he subsequently moved to New Mexico where I bought it early in 2022. I used it as a daily driver in its original condition until the fall last year where I modified it to be a little more capable off road and overland ready while keeping it light and not compromising the daily drivability.
I replaced the old tires with 31/10.5/15 BF Goodrich all terrains, replaced the tired springs with an OME complete lift including SPC adjustable control arms. At the same time I Installed an ARB front winch bumper and added a 8000lb Smitty Built winch, Raptor lined in black the paint faded camper shell and replaced the rear carrier bearing. I had no record of a timing belt ever been replaced on this truck so I had a local import specialist shop do the timing belt, water pump, pulley and thermostat. Recently I got the chance to buy a used Thule Tepiu, it had only been used 3 times and came with all the extras, thermal kit, new sheets, boots bag, Anti condensation mat, ladder and I thought it would be the perfect tent for this truck and mounted it on front runner roof bars.
This truck is in great condition for its age, drives well and has been cared for and the desert southwest climate has protected it from the rust that so many Tacomas succumb to. The downside to the heat and dry climate of the southwest often result in damage and faded paint and that’s exactly what happened to this truck over the years. This truck has not had any accidents or previous repair and the paintwork is all original but the hood and roof had badly sunburnt paint damage, beyond a buff and wet sand which is why I decided to wet sand and smooth both panels before installing a black wrap. There is some minor evidence of the sunburn on the tops of the windowsill and fender but very minor and not noticeable from 5 feet.
I recently moved to Massachusetts and I hauled the truck with me but find myself not driving it and exposing it to the elements and road salt in the Northeast.
