Consider trade for a 2008 Jeep jk with 8k miles original miles? The Jeep has beef professionally swapped with a 6.2LS engine and 6 speed transmission done in-house by turnkey in Southern California. Axles are Currie rock jock 60s., ARB locked front and rear. King doublethrow suspension including bump stops from EVO manufacturing. Atlas speed transfer case, rock ram steering. 5 37 geolander tires with less than 500 miles but could easily run 40s.


5 walker evan bead locks, poison spider body
armor and fenders, interior seating has twisted stitch seats, custom roll cage. Aftermarket sound system, and much more.. unbelievable amount of time and money went into this Jeep.

Let me know if you're interested. It's the perfect blend of street and off-road performance.

What is the GVW on the door tag?

Do you know the CAT weight of truck with bed, full tank, and one person?

what a coincidence I weighed it a few days ago, fully loaded with 45 gallons of water and 4 huge mastervolt batteries, came in at 9,030lbs, a little high considering the earthcruiser is supposed to be 1200lbs, i might take it off and then re-weigh. the yokohama tires are heavy though at 80lbs each. the sticker on the door is missing but I am fairly sure these were all in the 8800lb area stock, and the f350's were in the 11000lb category due to beefier springs and a center frame support bracket? and bigger brakes. I do have an appointment with California highway patrol in the next few weeks as i am changing its registered category from "commercial truck" to "RV" which requires an inspection hopefully they can give me a new door sticker.

I know nothing about diesels except I've read the mechanically run IDI is less costly to repair, and the computer run Powerstroke more costly to repair. One guy on Ford-trucks.com said this:

well the price on parts for one exp. valve covers gasket. idi 5.99 a set. PS 49.99 each. idi injector, 37.50 reman. PS injector 309.00 each reman. every thing for a powerstroke is high, why you think they call it a powerstroker you will have a poweriful stroke when paying parts.

I've no idea what those gages are for on your dash, and no idea what to troubleshoot if a gage is reading too high/low. Everything else I like; suspension mods, tire size, backup camera, even the diesel mods (in name at least) seem like good additions.

What I like the most about the truck is the bed.

My plan is this. When I retire in 2, maybe 3 years, I want to travel the country looking for that perfect, semi-remote log cabin redoubt to buy. I've never owned a truck besides a well running 1954 Dodge C1B8-118 (paid $700 in 1990 and drove it 45 miles home at 55mph on the freeway!) and a few throw away Nissan pickups in the mid 90's. Never owned a camper, either.

My travels will require a dependable, rugged truck with well outfitted pop-up. I'll want to carry "stuff". Tools, gear, skis, boots, electric bear fencing, REI folding chairs/table, etc.

Your bed has the most storage space I've seen, except for beds that have a "closet" or "locker" between the cab rear and camper front. So the bed is what I like most. One thing I noticed, though, is the height of the side boxes look a little low in relation to the "bed rail height" of, say, an Alaskan camper or Outfitter Apex 8 pop-up.

I guess you could make the boxes as tall as needed if you were to make a bed to order. :D

This site doesn't list GVWR for the 2001 F250 7.3 diesel, but it does list curb weight of 6,085. If GVWR is 8800 lbs, that leaves payload of 2715.

Everyone I've "talked" to on this site told me, a total newb, the most important thing I should watch is not exceeding payload. Many have noted suspension mods that in theory and/or truth can handle weight beyond payload. But all have noted if I have an accident, exceeding payload will be used against me if there's injuries to people.

So I'm going to listen well to the old salts on this forum re:GVWR and payload.

What does the bed alone weigh?

I'll wait for your report after you see CA highway people.

84FLH? as in 1984 harley FLH? I build Harleys mainly, this truck is my side project, a labor of love.

yes i could design/build a flatbed to whatever weight you want PM me.

sounds like any truck with a gm/chevy 6.0 & 480LE trans would work for you mechanics everywhere love working on those.

I bought the super duty 7.3 because of the robust aftermarket support for this engine and its Cult like following. for example many people rebuild the ps injectors at 500$ for all 8. or Upgrade them. In my experience 7.3 engine fanatics are surprisingly numerous, skilled and knowledgable. And after their work is done you get a 1,000,000 mile motor.

your GVWR weight advice sounds spot on.

TFT= transmission fluid temp, if it gets in the 250 range call a mechanic.
EOT= engine oil temp, if it gets above 250 call a mechanic.
EGT= exhaust gas temperature, if it gets and stays above 1200 call a mechanic

A full spec sheet on the gauge unit is in its manual, temperature ranges are spec'd by ford. monitoring the temps ensures your engine stays healthy.

luckily with this rig all the transmission and oil and even power steering radiators have been upgraded to Mishimoto units so all its temps are very cool.

1984 FLH. Solid mount shovel. 4 sp. Candy red. Orig, right down to canned ham air cover. I am second owner. Bought in 1991 with 9,800 miles. First owner was engineer at major aerospace outfit. He had original sale receipt and every record from new in an expandable file folder. Also factory service manual, factory parts book, case of HD oil, orig tools and tool bag.

I never even drove it. Guy fired it up. I got on, twisted the wick a few times, put 'er in all the gears, shut it down, and handed the guy the money. Done in 15 minutes.

Currently has >15,000 miles. Yes, under 15,000 miles. Excellent condition.

In the 80s, Honda's slogan was "You meet the nicest people on a Honda".
Harley's slogan? "Things are different on a Harley".

And they are. 😎

1. passed CHP VIN inspection with "flying colors". now verified and registered as an RV, in the state of California, this means significantly less yearly registration fees. when i asked CHP for a new door sticker they laughed at me said they would trade me the truck for it.

2. finished and tested a new very stable very ridged high lift jack system for dismounting the camper from high places ie: big lifted trucks. it worked phenomenally well, took less than 10 minutes. the 'X" style jack supports were laser tube cut from steel square tube, and the jack extensions were cut and bent from 0.25" inch steel plate, both double as a ladder/step for unbolting the front bolts on the GZL, and are collapsable for easy storage.

3. most likely i will be listing the GZL camper and the truck separately soon as most people are not into the small camper big truck combo like i am.

Congratulations, Alvaro G! Did you get a weight for the truck and flatbed, without camper? Was truck repainted? Was original color white?

Do you rebuild HD motors? From the crank up or jugs up? Balance flywheels yourself? What motors do you work on; blockhead, shovel, pan, etc?

Remember Dragonman? HD motor, transmission builder in AZ? His military museum must have about $5m-$8m of stuff in it. I wonder if all those belt feds are live and NFA items.

7050, Lbs with no camper, and completely dry*half a tank of gas. yes the entire cab was painted at some point, original color white.


I focus on 1450 engines pre-2002 with the timken crank case bearing, rubber mounted. yes to all of the above i have a cnc machine shop i will message you about that.

the backseat and front center jump seat are original and professionally re-upholstered. The original front driver and passenger side seats i don't have.

*thats a mini subwoofer underneath the back bench seat in the pic

I saw this truck yesterday and it is AWESOME. Super clean with a lot of attention to detail. It handles LA traffic like a dream. Very clean inside and out and has a great combination of looks and usefulness. Alvaro's workmanship is outstanding and this truck along with his other (top secret) projects show an artistic mindset to metalwork. Plus he is a super nice guy.
