History of the truck: It began it's life as a Bureau of Land Management HotShot (fire Transport) truck. It was used by the Ruby Mountain Hotshots in Nevada til about 2015 (from what I can tell). I bought it from auction, and picked it up from Elko, NV not running. The engine was torn down and diagnosed that a roller bearing/lifter failure. Decided to rebuild engine because the block looked good, it is studded, and the injectors tested good. Engine build was completed in Aug 2021 and I drove the truck from Boise, ID to SF Bay Area, CA

Price drop to $60k. Would love feedback if I’m way out of line
I think that’s a super fair price and a killer rig! I’d hold steady at that price, but being a stick shift, and most people are afraid of the 6.0, you’re gonna have be be patient for the right buyer to come along, not to mention I think the van market is way down right now, and interest rates are sky high on loans.

I also think it is a fair price. Good luck selling.

Did you ever get hassled about bringing that into campsites? I heard that CA is starting to not allow converted ambos into NP campsites.

Thanks for the confirmation on the price!
no, I’ve never had an issue with campsites (but I’ve only taken it out twice). If anything at YNP they were extra nice, maybe partially because it looks more like a fire rig than an ambulance

Beautiful minimalistic build. To me this would be a much more desirable vehicle over a sprinter-type van. If the rebuild was done properly this engine should last a long time without issues.

I can't tell from the pics on this site; is it a dually?

Yeah, pictures show a dually.

Looks like no toilet/shower/hot water; was there any plan to add them later or no?

Thanks for the comment and yes it’s a dually! I’m personally not a huge fan of super singles

no plans to add hot water or shower inside, I did plan to add hot water for outdoor shower but never got around to it, wouldn’t be too much effort to add all 3 though

Quick questions about ceiling height. I think the standard for these is only 5'6". Does that mean you found 4" above the drop ceiling? Is there any more height to be found/made?

And my two cents on price. Most of these unbuilt seem to be in the $18-28k range. May need to do a bit more to demonstrate the added value of your build or adjust price.

I found this relevant.

Cool trucks for sure
