This ^^^^^ is the reality of being on the road and I can say the exact same thing about my expereience in Nebraska last week. As a matter fact it took exactly 12 helpful, kind and thoughtful people to get me on the road.
1) Jake: Delivery driver that stopped on I-80 to drive me the last mile to the gas station.
2) Dispatcher Clark: Answered my 911 to have an Officer swing by to help me out.
2) Trooper Edmanson: Stopped to check on me and let me use his phone (no cell service on my phone....thx ATT) so I could call the wife and let her know I was ok and hungout until the tow truck arrived.
3) Doris: AAA Dispatcher that got me a tow truck and called me back several times to make sure I was ok.
4) Alex: Super happy, friendly and helpful tow truck driver that made the repair shop recommendations and drove me to my hotel.
5) Veronica: Super friendly hotel clerk that when I asked where closes store is that sold beer she offered me a beer from the managers fridge since I had a hard day!
6) Unknown Construction Guys in the hotel elevator: Offered me another beer from their six pack since my day sounded a lot worse then their day in the field fixing "pivot" sprinklers.
7) Pizza Hut delivery dude: That still delivered me a pizza after the local pizza hut was closed and it was past midnight.
8) Eric: Hotel manager that extended my stay beyond late checkout so I had a place to hang while the truck got repaired.
9) Chris: Owner of repair shop that took my early morning call and got the truck in as soon as they opened.
10) Steven: The hotel maintenance guy that drove me in his personal car to the repair shop to check on the truck and drove me back to the hotel (2) times.
11) Joshua: The Mechanic that got my truck done in 3 hours on a Saturday.
12) Kate: The morning hotel clerk that arranged my ride and was super pleasant to my wife when she called me at the hotel and wanted too know if she was doing ok with me being stuck in York, NB.
York, Nebraska.......the friendliest place on earth.
