Hi,

Alas although my test trip to Iceland was a great success from the vehicle point of view, I am again looking for a travel partner! See http://www.ultra.org.uk/

Stephen Stewart

Mr. Stewart,

A humble welcome to Expo Portal.

Having followed your travels on the web for a couple of years, I say you are one of my heroes.

Best of luck with your new rig. Best of luck with your new travel partner, too, when you find her. (I momentarily considered a sex change operation so I could apply, but decided that ... well ... uh ... your travels aren't *that* cool.)

Thank you for posting on this site. I look forward to reading more.

Congratulations

Hello Stephen
What a great looking truck. I hope this one takes you to as many wonderful places, as Mog did. But for those of you that do not know Stephen, go to his website it's a must read for those who enjoy expedition travel. I traveled with him as his companions for a few weeks in South America and found him to be extremely knowledgeable in the art of expedition travel. Good luck Stephen on all of your travels.

Personally, I would probably get one of the vehicles that are designed such that they have a top section that raises and lowers, and covers the windows when down. That way you could have big windows AND good security.

Security may be only a concern when ordinary plastic type windows are used. A lot of newer expedition vehicles use now windows produced by http://www.kctechnik.de. This is security glass that is hard to break. And you can use additional foil to make it even harder.

It is much easier to cut a hole into the wall with a knive or an axe.

Most of this vehicles are used in summer and hot climates. Larger windows mean that more heat enters the cabin. To reduce this with our large windows we have an additional coating on the glass and we have no opening on the top.

As we also want to go to cold and dark places in winter we have decided to use larger windows.
