Thanks for the feedback John. The running boards were on the Burb when I got her. I think they are a generic bolt-on from the 90's. Not really rock-protection, but great for standing on to reach the cargo rack. They bolt to the body pinch-weld and are braced to the frame rail with clamp.
On the solar, the panel is mounted on a bracket with multiple holes in lower brace to adjust anywhere from flat-horizontal to near vertical. I keep it vertical for travel, and angle it up for when we are anchored. I have studied this a little, and found that when I spent a little more ($20) on the controller, then my charging and "float" levels were generally better, (13.4 volts) with float being the long-duration "trickle" that industrial batteries seem to like.

I do try to face the panel sun-ward whenever I park in parking lots and at the house.

Next projects will be manual locks for the front hubs, and a locker for the rear differential.

Adios!

Cool. As I said, you likely know more about solar than me... and here I have learned from your response. What locker are you considering? I am looking right now as well.

I put some a warn kit on a '78 Blazer I once had...as I recall, they worked well, went on easy, and weren't very costly.
Probably go with Warn again.
