Suburban mafia fuel pump question

I wonder if you could use something like this in place of putting back the section you just cut?

Opening is 5" x 5" - maybe too small though? Also may be an issue of it sticking up too high and interfering with the operation of the seat?

Wouldn't interfere with the seat. However, I don't think the floor is flat enough in that spot for something like that to work. I also can't see the need for an actual hatch unless you're going to be doing something crazy like experimenting with different brands of pumps or something.
