As of earlier today, I-90 is closed indefinitely, and Stevens was closed as well, although Stevens doesn't sound like it had the massive damage that Snoqualmie has. Good luck and safe travels.
Some selected photos of the drive to Idaho and back. The Suburbillac did just fine. I did get my Swedish army jerry can stolen though, so that was a bit of bummer. Had heavy ice caking on the lights and intake snorkel on the drive over the pass. I had to stop in Cle Elum to get more washer fluid and gently bash the ice off with a rubber mallet. The truck ran just fine, but the 350 just doesn't have the grunt for some of those 7% grades to hold 60mph. The Cadillac is going to fix that shortcoming in spade I suspect.
Mileage wasn't too good, but I was pushing the beast hard at 70mph and it's not the most aerodynamic 4x4 brick there is.
Nice pics. I am eager to get mine into the snow if we get any here this year. Sorry to hear about your gas can. Always amazes me when people just take stuff that is not theirs.
Thanks . The old beast rides pretty well even over less than perfect highway. The USGS put in all new shocks before they auctioned it off and did a full alignment so it doesn't run "dog legged" down the road.
The fuel tank in my 1993 Suburban is so big I seldom carry extra gas. From the Colorado River to Afton Canyon I think I used a 1/4 tank of gas. I am usually hitting some civilization somewhere long enough to top off, so I rarely carry extra fuel.
Sadly you have to lock anything that is outside your vehicle these days. I try to minimize anything outside the rig.
I'm sure the Cadillac engine will definitely keep up with traffic on the hills!
Yeah this wagon needs some extra torque that's for sure! I have the 40 gallon tank in there now. I don't know if GM ever made a 60 gallon unit for these trucks. It's a bit confusing as the emissions tag on the radiator support says that it is for a 60 gallon tank. Would be nice to have another 20 gallons of fuel on board.
Yeah, I thought so too. You never know sometimes what the government will order though. I'd like to eventually install some saddle tanks, there is plenty of room in there.
