Suburbillac (aka Woofwagon) Shakedown

I think so too. The Cadillac will hardly be working to move the mass of the Suburbillac. I do have the the 454 TBI system that can control a 4L80E transmission, so that would be a further mileage boost too when I get that installed. I want to save up for everything here first and install the Caddy/trans combo as one unit now that I think about it.

Chili, nothing of worthy note. I did use the lights on the old beast to illuminate the work being done by power line crews repairing the electrical line to my house after a tree knocked power out. The crew thanked me for the extra light of the floods. Not bad for a $32 dollar investment off of Amazon. I'm in the hunt now for a 4L80E transmission that will mate up to the NP241 transfer case ( I know I know I have to update my signature) . On the whole for the time being, I'm enjoying driving this battle wagon and getting various projects done with it. Planning on a couple weekend excursions to the surrounding country side when the weather gets warmer.

Give us a link to those lights you purchased and a pic of them lighting the night up. That would be cool...:)

I found the 32" LED light bar on Amazon for 18 bucks.

Thats cheap! Cool looking pics. That really lights things up. How many amps does the light bar draw? Is the beam of the lamp wide or like a spot light? Weird the link you posted shows the price at $79 bucks. Can you see any drawbacks to the lighting bar? Thanks, Chilli..:)

A buddy at work put that bar on his rig- saved him from a couple near miss deer incidents coming over the pass now in the early morning. Think he's only had it 6 months or so but working great thus far, crazy cheap for the price can't go wrong.

Best of Luck,

Mike

Hi Chilli,

Looks like they increased the price. I paid about 78 bucks total as the shipping was over 60 bucks. They work very well as there are spots and floods built into the unit. I put two more spot lights on the front bumper for additional projection. Jon and me wired it on a 30 amp circuit, but I don't think it draws that much. I do make sure that the engine is running when the lights are on just in case.

On the aft portion of the roof rack I did put on a couple spot lamps for backing up at night and to use as lights for loading back into the vehicle.

I did have a near miss with a rather large mule deer buck recently, but thanks to the lights I saw him way before there was a juncture of our two paths......

Yeah I'm never going back to halogens for off road beams. The LEDs are far brighter, last longer and as silly as this sounds, less aerodynamic drag. The smaller profile makes them easier to find places to mount them too.

Sorry I've not posted in quite a while. I was in Austria for a month on business. I'm hoping to roll the extra coin I made on this trip into the Cadillac engine and get this project rolling again. Superbuickguy, I'm going to need your help soon on that distributor conversion.
