Swing away carrier for LR3/4

Looking to add to the car with a swing away carrier.
However, it seems that unlike the Defender models, most parts for 3/4 models are a fortune and all the bits are in a cartel style price with each other.
Front runner is £1025.
Nakatanenga is £845. This is a dual model, it's made from stainless steel and is also a mouthful to pronounce.
Kaymar, £1500+. Have to ship from Aus and then deal with import taxes.
Terrafirma sell one, but i can't find a price which usually means, if you need to know it, you can't afford it.

So, having seen a few efforts, i'm going to go the route of self building one. Partly as i can't bring myself to spend what is realistically 10% of the value of the car, on a hinge, some metal and a pivot point and some coating, and because i've been challenged by some D3/4 owning mates to come up with something.
Plus i need a gearbox rebuild next year and i'm facing a £3000 bill for that which is going to hurt...

I've seen people buy heavy duty pivot points and then have the metal made up, the white 4 i've pictured is an example of that. Looks pretty decent so it is possible to make them up and have them looking very good.

I've also seen some members on here with various swing away carriers. I've posted up a couple.
Kaymar, Expo dark green.

Now.

For the member's who have them, what do you have, how do you like it and also, what don't you like about them?
This idea will get kicked about for a bit, till the holidays etc are past but i can get parts ready for it as and when they come up.
I'm going to go for dual swings, like the Kaymar, right side for the spare tyre and left side for fuel, number plate, jack, cb ariel and a work light.

Also, if member's are willing, some pictures of the pivot area and the latch would be most welcome.

I have home built/custom dual swingouts on a full rear bumper . If you're handy with a welder there's no reason you can't build your own, the hardware is readily available. I would recommend pullin g the plastic bumper cover off and having a good look around at the factory steel before you start. The stock steel inner bumper isn't particularly strong and I'd want to add some reinforcement before hanging 100+ lbs of steel and tire off the end of it.

Do you have some pictures?

I can't weld, I have a friend who is great at welding and is only £10 an hour so it's going to be his job.
Once I get the specs and measurements and parts sorted.

Did you add bracing or such to your inner bumper?

I've got a thread about it on here somewhere but who knows where.

My friend Pedram did 90% of the build, I just helped and came up with the design. It's more or less styled like a Tactical but it's all welded instead of bolt-on and I was able to ditch the stock plow-style tow receiver and add in a normal receiver for a regular draw bar/ball mount. As for bracing, yes - we pretty much left the stock bumper structure in place (other than the center section which was replaced w/the receiver) then wrapped it in 3/16" steel.

I was surprised how easy it was to move the stock steel parts with a large hammer. Crumple zones at work I suppose. But that's why I'd want to reinforce before hanging a carrier on the stock bumper structure.

Here's a video Pedram did after completing it about 2 yeas ago.

(wow the truck is so clean and so...stock!)

Pages 4 and 5 of this gallery have a bunch of build pics

I have kaymar with a modified swingout spare arm (to center the tire). The only wrinkle I've run into is the challenge of using a bike rack with a swing arm design. So I chopped and modified a yakima rack to swing to the LHD side instead of RHD.
