yeah im working on getting a 500 watt solar power station and solar panels and a Iceco fridge but its all gonna take many months of saving to get each thing but im hoping we should be well self contained this is good info too thank you very much
If you don't my asking, where are you? Where do you want to travel/camp? For how long at a time? What type of vehicle will you be using? Answers to those questions will help forum members help you. :)

Be careful on solar power purchases. Many "kits" aren't a good deal. Keep up your research! :)

Just look up patio mat or RV mat they are polypropolene and about 3/8 of an inch thick - very comfortable under bare feet even over a gravel pad.

No problem I am in North county San Diego Southern California I think for the most part since we have very tight funds and no savings we will mostly keep it in California Maybe Oregon or Nevada since we dont have things like buggies and Quads we think the desert camping will prove to be very boring for us so mostly wanting to camp in woods and mountains pretty places is our hopes anyway. as far as what we will be driving in it will be a 2003 Mazda Tribute SUV 2WD during Covid a member here who is like my brother him and his mom bought it for me and my wife because our toyota corolla blew its engine at the food store :( I will also be using a Harbor Freight trailer to tow all the camping gear hope this info helps ya guys and thank you for making a guy like me with my issues feel so welcomed here very few people like to interact with me i have a bad case of Tourettes Syndrome makes me very unpopular LOL

I'm going to try as best I can to answer your question. Budget will of course be a limiting factor. Let me give you my perspective first.

I have Osteoarthritis of my lumber impacting at the worst L4 and L5, giving me a fairly constant sciatic nerve compression on the left side. On that same leg I am currently dealing with tendon issues in the knee.

With these issues, getting in / out of bed, and the first few steps require a cane / hiking staff / trekking pole to be able to get moving and not end up on my face on the floor.

To deal with using my trekking pole (I use a trekking pole instead of a cane) to boost myself up, I lay down foam anti fatigue cushions, like those things used in kids playrooms. It takes the stress LONG before it gets to the tent floor. Anywhere in the tent I am going to apply pressure, I use the pads.

The patio mats / RV mats folks are showing above are also quite excellent. I use one but outside of my tent in the dining / kitchen canopy. A.K.A. my EZ Up. I could just as easily add another RV mat / patio mat for inside the tent to solve for that problem. Sure would be a more attractive solution!

I suggest you look over the California State Park passes:

"DISABLED DISCOUNT PASS - $3.50 (Lifetime Pass)

For persons with permanent disabilities, this pass entitles the bearer to a 50% discount for vehicle day use, family camping, and boat use fees at California State Park operated units. "

..........................................................

I suggest you look over the San Diego County Park passes too:

First off, 100% respect to any and all that are dealing with their own physical and / or psychological issues. For those being judgemental about others circumstances I say wait, it will come to you. We all are subject to decline, it's called life.

Secondly, I am sorry you run into people that leave you excluded. If in our travels we cross paths, you and your wife are absolutely welcome to share a campfire with my wife and I. Maybe I am too optimistic about this view, but you might be surprised how many people would welcome you. Don't let others bring you down! And unpopular? You had someone gift you a car. Obviously they care a good deal about you.

Thirdly. I know you said money is tight, I totally get that, especially now. If you don't already have the HF trailer, if you have them near you as well, watch Northern Tool. They sell under different brand names kind of the same stuff HF has, and the folding trailer sometimes goes on sale cheaper than the Harbor Freight version...

And back to the original concern. The forearm crutches and potential damage to the tent.

I do not know how much, if any control she has of her legs, so bear with my understanding here as I can only go with what I know. Due to the sciatic nerve damage I tend to drag the bad side leg. It is possible that your wife may do that, or drag / snag the crutch on a soft tent floor which would pose a tripping hazard. Not trying to deter you in the slightest, just want to make you aware of a potential issue to deal with.

Another issue you may want to consider, and I believe another poster mentioned this, most modern tents have a "bathtub floor" meaning the floor material comes up a couple inches up the side of the tent, this keeps pooling water during hard rain from entering the tent, but with limited or no leg function, this also makes it harder to enter / exit the tent. IF she can make the motions, if she has a better functioning side, step in with the better functioning side, put both crutches inside the tent, push up and swing the other leg in to get into the tent. I sure how that makes sense written as it does in my head....

This again puts you in need of a more solid, and inflexible flooring. You do NOT want your flooring to move around on you while you are doing this. This is where I start to move away from the interlocking foam squares and start steering more toward the patio / RV mats.

Whatever solution you come up with, enjoy your travels, enjoy your time together, and good luck!

yeah i like the RV Carpet idea too and the Wife bless her heart she said if it proves to still be a issue then she will just crawl around inside the tent :( not that im happy with that but my baby just wants to get away and in the open clean air so bad she will do what ever needs to be done <3 accept for not having a Porta potty lol that is a deal breaker LOL i guess its a lady thing .. as far as i said about me being very unpopular yes my best friend/ brother and his wife and mom accept me as i am what i meant to say was society mostly has a problem with me food stores i get laughed at or nasty things said to me or the stares that type of thing its also another reason for my learning disorder and bad spelling and grammer because i have not had a full year of school since the 4th grade lets just say the other kids were NOT the only people being nasty to me. so what i meant by thanking everyone here for making me feel so welcome is that i tend to not do so much message boards and forums cause ive always had problems with grammer and spelling Nazis they get down right mean and i leave here i did not get that so i feel welcomed. thank you we if we ever meet will most definately share your camp fire by the way my wife agrees with you with the just wait its will come to you she told me to tell you she calls those people T.A.B's =s Temporarily. Able. Bodied!! again thank you all of you here for the help and info I am sure i will be asking a ton of stuff as we start to buy stuff to begin our adventures

Well, to be 100% honest here, your spelling and grammar from what I can tell, exceeds that of several PHd Engineers I worked with at a certain space agency that shall remain nameless...

I can related, although my issue has mitigated over time. I more or less stopped paying attention by fifth grade, and hung out with the stoners because they were cool with just about anybody that wasn't a narc...

I have a vision condition known as Nystagmus. Not very common, and to be blunt, my eyeballs and my brain don't communicate well enough to know the one is focused. So my eyes move, a LOT, seeking a focal point. So yeah, I got messed with a LOT as a kid, and I know lots of ************** are out there.

The good thing for me is it has become very much not noticeable to most people as I have aged, however it shows up from time to time... It freaks people that noitce out...

Too bad you aren't closer in proximity. I am offloading some of my surplus. If you don't have back issues, my Cabelas Deluxe Shower Shelter would be a good match for you. I recently upgraded to an instant set model. Don't need 2.... But I think S&H might not be a good plan cost wise... It is heavy.

Depending on if your wife can deal with it. A bucket toilet. I.E. a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat lid, lined with plastic bags and usually cat litter, or with special made bags is a good cheap functional private toilet option.

You probably aren't looking at going full time nomadic, but look into the Youtube Channel Cheap RV Living. Bob Wells covers budget concerned travel very nicely...

On the subject of uh... toilet...

On the subject of bathing...
