Trying to sell it all together for the moment, but if I can't get it sold soon, you've got first shot at it!

On my way to work on Tuesday morning, I stopped about 1/2 way there (3hr commute) at Waffle House to get some coffee :coffeedrink: and some breakfast. I noticed an unusual smell after getting out of the Jeep. After I ate, I crawled under it really quick to see if I could see anything, and the entire undercarriage was covered in ATF. :Wow1: Being that my Cherokee is a manual transmission that uses 80w90, it had to be the new t-case.

So, I ran in Wal-Mart and got some fluid to top it off and headed on in to work. After work I got to looking around and found that it wasn't any seals leaking, so I wiped off the t-case really good with some rags and test drove it across town. Upon inspection there was a clear trail to a hole in the side of the case that should have had a rubber plug in it I found out through some research. The hole is an access port to remove the roll pin from the 4low shift fork.

Today, I brought a tap and plug home from work and lo, the hole is the perfect size for a 1/8" NPT tap and plug! So, I used a nut driven on the back of the tap with a stubby ratcheting wrench to tap the hole, and put in a 1/8" plug that has cured the problem. :wings:

I'm loving the NP242 so far! The only driving issue I've seen is when trying to turn while pulling off from a stop in AWD. It seems that the power transfer to the front wheels can make it a little odd feeling, but I'm sure it's something you get used to. 4.10 gears would help this by eliminating my need to shift from 1st to 2nd while making the turn.

Oh, and now my Jeep's underbody is well coated in ATF to help prevent rust!! :victory:

Still got the old XJ. I'm in the finals for a set of Smittybilt XJ bumpers on Facebook right now. If you guys go to their page and like the picture of my old XJ, it counts as a vote. I'm WAY behind in votes right now, but any help would be appreciated!

Handed the keys over today to the new owner. Kinda sad to see it go after 8 years, but now I can find a truck.
