Well seen Bret! Love the almost mirrored light and dark tones in this.
I made this image last year on a short family getaway to Grand Staircase-Escalante NM. I don't often photograph mid-day but there are times when the light and shadows can create interesting opportunities.

Taken about 20 minutes ago with my Canon Rebel T5i on the Creative mode, and with it set to monochrome.
We got around 4" of snow yesternight at my place.
First three the flash did not come on, but it did for the last one of the neighbors cat.

I was laying prone on the playa as they walked by.

I have several versions of this single frame, out of hundreds that I shot that afternoon, but I like this one the best, too.
