The truck sold shortly after posting. Thanks for the interest.
All this is a bit long, mostly because there's a lot to cover. Trust me, though . . . if you might be a potential owner of this truck, you'll enjoy reviewing the extensive accomplishments and thoughtful care and modification that's gone into this most highly-regarded overlanding truck.
It's come time to sell the rather famous Scott Brady/James Roy former Expeditions West Tacoma. Not because the truck isn't brilliant; it is. But as many know, for the past two years, I've had two of the country's better overlanding trucks in the Tacoma and my highly modified EarthRoamer XV-JP, and they are basically redundant given the type of overlanding I'll be doing in the future. So I recently decided, after a lot of thought, to keep the XV-JP and offer the Tacoma (and, later, Sprinter) for sale.
This truck will not be easy to part with. The rig is virtually perfect and truly could leave on any expedition this afternoon. It's in exceptional condition, fully equipped, fully maintained and recently had all the wear parts replaced with new so that it drives like new. As Scott wrote when he sold it, “This vehicle was designed, built and maintained at the highest standards,” and James and I have only improved it during our ownerships.
I'm asking a firm $28,000 for the truck, FOB Portland, OR. I'd appreciate receiving inquiries only from those seriously considering purchase and, ideally, who have a good idea what they are looking at. I'm not in any financial distress, so I'm not looking for lower offers at this time. If this is too much money and no one here is interested, I might put it on eBay in a few months and it may go for a lower price then. But you certainly couldn't duplicate the truck for anything close to this price. All told, there's probably over $100,000 been put into this truck, and James and I have, between us, spent close to double my asking price on it.
Continuing the sensible tradition established by both Scott and James, I will not sell any accessories separately or remove parts. This is a complete turnkey expedition truck and will be sold as such or else I'll keep it. And, sorry, I can't consider any trades; this truck is being sold mostly because I have too much stuff already.
One point definitely worth mentioning is that the changes I‘ve made have made the truck particularly competent as a daily driver and long-range highway cruiser. I had the suspension and steering redone and just finished 1500 highway miles during which the ride and handling proved to be outstanding. Also, with all the maintenance, repairs and new equipment, this truck pretty much drives like new.
Another important feature is the incredible level of quality reflected in the custom fabrication of the roof rack, bed cover, and rear bumper/tire carrier. This design and fabrication, done by 4wheelers in Phoenix at the direction of James Roy, is elegant as you will find.

Additional Information
If you are interested in this truck, you'll definitely want to go here:
https://picasaweb.google.com/mhiscox01/ExpeditionsWestTacomaSale
which is a public Picasa web album I created containing roughly a hundred pictures showing details of the truck.
This is a pretty famous truck, having twice appeared at SEMA and been written up in Overland Journal (Winter 2007) and numerous other magazines. Additionally, you can have an interesting evening or two without leaving the Portal just by reviewing all of the write-ups about the truck.
Scott's big thread about getting the truck constructed in the first place is here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/6,
and there was enough interest for him to create a separate FAQ thread here:
http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/17.
The build threads for the custom fabrication done by James Roy are here:
http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/16753

You can also look at the two previous sale threads to get additional information and additional pictures; the sale threads are here:
Scott's: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/13793
James's: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/25585.
It's also kind of cool to review the trip the truck made to the edge of the Arctic Ocean: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/4227
and if you go here: http://vimeo.com/6486709
you can see the videos made of the Tacoma's Arctic Ocean trip.
Finally, Scott has still left extensive information about the Tacoma during its Expeditions West tenure on the website here:
http://www.expeditionswest.com/vehicles/ewvehicles/tacoma/index.html
Even though Scott hasn't had the truck for a while, it's interesting to read his opinions of the truck and the modifications he made and, given his talents as a photographer, enjoyable to look at the photos he's posted of the Tacoma in action in some very impressive places.
In fact, given his dedication to his truck, Scott probably won't mind me reposting three of his iconic Expeditions West Tacoma photos:
In the Arctic:
On the Rubicon:
On the White Rim Trail
A listing of the truck specifications and its extensive equipment follows in the next post.
