The Flip Flop Winch

I was going thru some old files the other night and found this plan for improvising a winch using two logs and rope.

Has anyone ever tried this? It looks like a workable concept. This supposedly was used by the British army in WWII.

Mors Kochanski is well known for the flip flop winch in the Bushcraft world, here is an example by Caleb Musgrave out of Canada:

They are time consuming but quite effective is certain applications.

We made one of these up for a course once, using the Mors Kochanski video guide. I was surprised just how well it worked
