I am through the Mojave Road and continuing east. The wildflowers were awesome and the 200 is a fantastic road car. We will know more of its trail capabilities once we hit the slickrock, but I expect the greatest limitations will be its physical size...

Here is a shot from the most difficult obstacle on the Mojave Road.

I suspect the greatest limitation is those silly tires!

Have a fun trip. I'll look forward to the results.

I totally agree. Every time I see a Highlander I think it's a Land Cruiser and vice-versa. Actually, even the new Rav4 looks like a mini-version of this LandCruiser.

I really don't understand why they choose to make them all look the same. It irritates me...

Yes, it is big... too big and there is nothing about it that feels like a Land Cruiser. However, if you wanted a DD that could bomb the highways at 85mph in total comfort and then run all of the major overland routes in stock form, this is not a bad choice. It really is very capable right up to its limit, which is size and clearance angles. The traction control is the best of any Toyotas I have tested (similar to the FJ, but the 200 has more engine torque). The swaybars also uncouple automatically and the suspension exhibits excellent flex and damping.

Heck, it even comes with a fridge... stock ;)

There will be a more detailed review, and Moab will be a good test.

I am moving back east, and will be in Moab around Thursday or so.

The highlander comment was certainly a dig on the 200 from a 100 owner ;)

Time will tell how good the 200 is...

Just kiddin with you man... I bet you can hardly wait for all the cool aftermarket stuff to start showing up :safari-rig:

I am going to close this thread... The trip ended up completely different than I expected, mostly due to the need of picking up the JK in CO.

Mojave Road was awesome! We also spent some time with the 200 in Sedona.

More details soon ;)

Well, we missed by a day. I started the MR the afternoon of the 9th from the Eastern end.
Where is that spot? I'm thinking somewhere near Mid Hills. Only spot that really had me thinking was a steep descent into a dry wash.
BTW I drove a '91 Suburban on that trail. With 2.5" on 285's and a rear Detroit I was over-equipped for the trail.

That should be the hill just east of Rock Springs. Our trip was going west to east so we went up this. The Cherokee and Kamparoo walked up it. I could see coming down looking worse then it really would be.
