Started on the first drawings of the front bumper. What do you think?

Fairhead , jack points, pull points ,2"x 2" receiver ,8" Driving lights, and bull bar 1 3/4". Mostly built from 3/16" plate and some 1/4". Tubing to be 1 3/4" x .120.

Also with luck, springs will be here Thursday ?

Looking good. I liked my 01 f250 a lot. Solid, tough and reliable. Mine was super reliable in the 2+ years I owned it. Other than a failing thermostat, all of the maintenance I did was voluntary. I did hate the turning radius with the front leaf springs though. My current f150 supercab longbed is longer but has a shorter turning radius.

Slow start ,but getting their. Used a HF winch plate and cut up some stock to set the base for the winch. Then I will build around it with the bumpers outer skin. Reused the Ford pull points.

Some welding done. And needed to turn the lever to clear grill. So I just cut it off and rewelded it.

With luck I should have it skinned Sunday?:bike_rider:
The 2"x 2" receiver should be here on Monday and I can get it put into place? It will be welded to the bottom of the winch plate and also be tied to the front frame horns.

Now you tell me!!!! :)

If you look close, you will see I still need to build the filler to the wheel opening!
I have been fighting with a outer support for the trailing edge of the bumper? Something to keep it from being pushed in if I got to close to something.:Wow1:
Would need to keep the bumper from getting the tire? Need to find a frame point that has a hole to use?
Randy,and thanks for the input!:bike_rider:

On first thought I would say:

The end of the bumper next to the tire drop down 2-3 inches. Out from the end of the same end measure 9-12 inches from the bottom. Connect the points and cut.

You seem to have some fab skills so don't be afraid to have looks be as important as strength.

As you know, it's only metal, you can make it do what you want.

One of the most enjoyable things I built on my Jeep was the bumpers. But I will probably change them again.:ylsmoke:

Good point! I will have a look at it in the AM. Also looking for another point to from a triangle.
What are you doing up so late?:ylsmoke:

It's what I do.

I would (what the hell do I know) triangulate the bumper back into itself and not tie it into the frame. Let the bumper take the impact and not affect the frame.

Unless you are going to do an exo frame. Then I would say tie it all in!
