Hey Dan! Loving the updates on the trip! Im pretty much checking your site everyday hoping for a new update. Been really dreaming about doing a trip like yours and have officially made a savings account to help me achieve it. I live in alberta, so i'm thinking a trip to Inuvik and Prudhoe bay will be a good way to start getting into overlanding! Can't wait for the next update!

Thanks for the kind words and the interest in my trip!

I was living in Calgary before I set out up to Prudhoe the first time, then turned around and went down to the bottom of South America!

Alaska and the Yukon are spectacular, you won't regret it.
I love it so much I call it home now!

All the best getting your trip off the ground, let me know if I can help in any way.

This is one I have been anxious about for many months.

Hi All,

Nigeria is rolling along.

I drove in, through an interesting Immigration post and did not get any paperwork for my Jeep at all.
I really hope that does not become a problem.....

On the first day I went through a lot of intense military checkpoints, and had to deal with prices magically going up...

Dan,

Did you make it out of Nigeria?

The website is down.

Safe Travels and keep up the great reports,

His site has been down for 2 days now but he does have updates on his FB page and todays update was reading about him making the border and all. Great daily reads. Cannot wait to catch up on the last 2 days when site comes back up.

Hey guys,

Sorry the site is down, I am working on it!

We crossed into Cameroon at a border where the immigration officer had never seen a foreigner in his 3 year posting.

Yeah, we went off the beaten path!

Hi All,

Ahhhh, I got the website fixed, sorry it's been offline.
When in doubt, turn off code you wrote yourself :D

For those that missed it, the journey across Nigeria has been amazing, here are a few links to the pages you might not have seen while the site was down:

Love the Grasslands!

Dan,

Your picture looks like it was taken yesterday! (Edited to correct:

That part of Cameroon was my old Consular District and it was one of the most magical places on earth. If you like beef, the Fulani of the grasslands grow most of the beef sold in Cameroon and so it is cheap and good. Fans of African art, especially wood carvings, will be in heaven. Bamelike textiles are beautiful.

And offer up a prayer for our old friend, Enugu, who died on a cattle drive, soon after these pictures were taken.

Finally, enjoy Bamenda. I suspect that it has changed a lot!

Safe travels and thanks for stirring up old memories!
