The Service Truck

I forgot to post one of my more favorite changes from a few months ago. The big starters that come on the c/k trucks aren't known for holding up at all. I had a guy tell me to try a starter from a 98-99 S-10 Blazer with a 4.3L. It's a little gear reduction unit. WOW, one $35 starter from the salvage yard is now on it's 3rd truck, not including the truck at the salvage yard. It really whips the motor over, and the batteries tend to last longer. He said it will work on both the small blocks and big blocks.

If I had to guess, I would say this starter had 300,000 miles on it. I wouldn't count on all of them lasting that long, but this one sure has held up well.

Very nice upgrades.
Cool looking burb.

I am amazed that someone left a note after they hit your truck........There are still some good people.

They didn't leave a note, they left an advertisement for their business. I call them and all is well. Just annoying and somewhat humorous to me. Didn't even make it 12 hours.

Like the color combo.

Thanks, never liked white vehicles before, but it is really starting to grow on me.

The power inverter came in today. We were looking at how we might mount it in the console but have it accessable from the outside. While we were looking at it, I decided I better test it. When I grabbed the ac/dc interter, there was another dc/ac inverter sitting beside it. We hooked that dc/ac inverter up to find it only had 90 volts output. So we tore it apart and I am use the panel from it in the side of my console. It has all the functions I need built into it. We went to lunch and started talking, and Dad suggested adding an extra cooling fan in the console just to help with the heat. I went through my box of old computer fans and found a powerful one that was very quite at full speed.

I haven't pulled the tape off the side of the console yet as I still need to paint the top of the panel that I cut down.

The USB charging ports came in today. It was smaller then I thought it would be. I had planned to mount it in the console, but I didn't want it on the sides or an where something could be dropped in it. I decided to remove the cigerette lighter from the panel from the bottom of the dash and install it there. All I had to do is drill the hole out slightly larger, and change the wire ends fro, the lighter. All is well and it works beautifully.

There has been a buzz from the bottom of the dash I couldn't find. While trying to figure out how to remove the outlet panel from the bottom of the dash the mounts all broke. I decided that rather then gluing it in like it was from the factory, I would like to be able to remove just this panel. I used some of the extra screws from the console to hold it in place.

I also got my 9w LED lights I am likely going to mount in the back bumper for backup lights.

This is Dixie in her favorite spot just in case you might have wondered. She sits directly behind me on the folded down back seat.

Jensen BT390 Bluetooth speakerphone with FM modulator. Microphone is mounted above with the wiring tucked, the display is mounted to the A pillar. The display shows battery power, signal strength, caller name and number.

Surprised how nice and clear this unit is.

Thanks, it's little baby steps right now.

The truck is becoming increasingly more enjoyable to drive. Considering I HATED this truck when my wife wanted it, me liking it at all is a HUGE statement.

Fair parade was yesterday. I got the suburban a little shined up and took the kids.

Little bit didn't make it to the parade. She fought taking a nap all day, then fell asleep before the parade started.
