I believe I have a pic of this earlier in the thread. I just mated up the plastic tube from the stock air cleaner right to the snorkel tube mounted through the hole cut in the fender.

Nice work on this. Like to see how the caddy pulls it. I think the TBI is a good choice overall.

I just reread the thread and see you are still chugging away at it. You should get Chilli to come own and help, he is not all that far (hi Chilli) in BC.

I have two 91 subs now. Flipping one (1/2 ton only 85k) and doing a cummins in the other (3/4 ton. Both cali trucks so just the tops are rusty from the good paint they used.

Here is the 2500 just after unloading;

It's funny (at least to me). I love building and then selling the completed vehicle. Normally speaking their just metal money machines for me, but there are a few that I'm always sorry to see go and excited to get back into my fleet. Suburbans are one of those (FJ40s, and C3 Corvettes are the others)....

If I did not have so many problems with my diesel Yukon right now I might be up for it!

The 6.5 is a better motor. The 6.2 is hit and miss, god or bad motors.

Heck, low tech it with a 454 and go TBI. it will be a new truck and probably the same mileage.

That's what the Cadillac 500 will do. I'm installing 454 TBI into the rebuild 500 with an upgraded cam, valve train coupled with a 4L80E. Current gearing calculations show that at 70mph the 500 Cad will only be spinning about 2000rpm. The Caddy is going to generate so much low end torque that moving this armored juggernaut will be a piece of cake :)

I know you are doing the caddy 500. You are on the right tract there!!

I meant this for Chilli and had his thread open in another window. I think he went with a 327 :Wow1: in his truck and has issues with the 6.2 in the sas tahoe, surprise!!

Ah ok! Now I understand! I'd much rather have a 327 than a 350 any day! The 6.2L is an ok engine for a 1/2 ton truck, but I wouldn't want to do any towing with it. It was designed as a diesel engine from the ground up however. I'd think it would be a killer engine for say an El Camino with a turbo on it.

Don't get the 327 though. Thats a high rever. The 350 has way more torque for something heavy.

My el Camino is getting a 5.3. All is in hand. Already has BGN rear.

I like that GM 4.8 V8 too. Plenty of power out of that LS series mill. I'd like to find a Malibu wagon of around your Elky's vintage and do a 4.8 or 5.3 swap with like a 6 speed auto transmission.

I just have the stock 5.3-4l60 combo. They have mounts and manifolds to make it bolt in now, so its easier. Plus they are easy to find and cheap.

Dang Woof me too. I've always loved those little square Malibu wagons. Surprisingly roomy for big people and an LS swap is perfect. I've always thought they were a good looking body style especially the later ones without the wraparound lights in front.
A nice clean wagon with Z28 wheels, nose drop about an inch, earlier Trans Am 1 1/4" sway bar up front, urethane link bushings in the sway bar, a Monte Carlo or Buick Grand National rear sway bar and away you go!
I'd like mine in the 2 tone dark green/mint green color combo they put on full size Pontiacs of that era.
They are the exact same colors my Dad had on his 57 Pontiac Safari wagon.

4.8 and 5.3 are just modern 283 and 327 engines that are actually about 292/4.8 and 323/5.3 cubic inches.

Lots of that is on my Elky. Besides the BGN rear (3.42/posi) I have tubular A arms for the front, SSBC rear disc brakes, LT1 front Disc. The 305 is tired, but uses NO oil and has 400k+ miles.

There is a nice silver/maroon wagon around the corner with the rally wheels, I like the Z28 though.

Yea the Z28 wheels fit that era car and look right. Wow that little 305 is durable! The Camaro 305 HO was a nice little engine too!
