Thinking of going to a 3rd Gen Dodge Cummins

I don't drive with a heavy right foot, and yes I'm running the stock tires for now. This summer I'm planning on doing the Thuren Kings, Springs, and probably the bumpstops. I'm also planning on pulling out the firestone airbags and replacing them with the Carli long travel bags. Then by fall I'll need some new tires, and will go slightly larger, 34ish.

It looks like his shock towers come with the kings, is that correct? And will I need to change out swaybar endlinks when I goto the longer springs? Are you guys running limiting straps? Which valving on the kings did he set you up with?

I'm heading to Joshua Tree tonight, and can hardly wait!

Thanks

Towers come with it. He's got a package ready: 3" coils, limiting straps, towers,Thuren adjustable trackbar,minipaks,4ea. King 2.5's,endlinks and dysko bumpstops for around $3,000.His bumpstops do work. I had some Kore's on there before and these provide way more cushion. With these campers, you're almost jumping them due to the weight. I'm running the Carli LT's. Super improvement over the Firestone's I had. They mount inboard for way more travel. You can talk to him about going with his new softride coils or Carli's. Your load might require Carli's. I'd highly recommend the Toyo 285-75-17 AT's. They outweigh the "70"'s by 14# and are super strong, but will handle a good airdown.

Joshua Tree and Agua Caliente

Now would be a good time to hit Joshua tree, before the college kids get out. We were there last April at the tail end of their break. Most had cleared out. My wife and I just returned from Agua Caliente County Park in Anza Borrego. It's a gem of a site with good light hiking and three pools waiting for you at the conclusion of the day. One's heated to 104*. The park was maybe 1/10 occupied. Great and recently upgraded throughout. $28.00/night w/full hookups.

I have a 2005 crew cab dually 4x4 with the long bed. The two piece drive shaft is known to eat u-joints and its 'carrier' bearing. Dodge fixed this in 2007(?) by going to a one piece aluminum drive shaft in the 3/4 and 1 ton rigs.
I had a local shop make me a one piece steel shaft (much cheaper than aluminum). No problems since.
One catch to watch out for is that the factory aluminum shafts have their length determined by the G-56 six speed, *not* the NV5600.

I have a 2003 3500 long bed, quad cab, srw 4x4, with 102,000 miles, it drives like it's new. I plan on keeping this truck for another 400,000 miles. Dodge Cummins is King, I get 18 mpg at 80mph in a 7000 lb. truck.
