Ok So here it goes:
I am a year early on this thread and when the time comes I will rename it and revive it. However for now I need some assistance now.

I am planning a trip to either Deadhorse, AK or Tuktoyaktuk, NT in 2026, I will be leaving from Virginia. This will be late summer/ September and am planning for at least a month.

I will be buying a full size truck and will put a slide in camper on it. This will be my home and I will figure it out once I figure out the truck. I am thinking a popup might be better as they are lighter, not as tall initially and less wind resistance.
Budget for the truck is 7-10K and not sure if I should go diesel or gas. Truck will need to be 4x4 as I am planning a lot of back country, logging, forestry roads between Colorado and the Yukon.

Price for the truck is lower as I will be paying this out in cash (do not want a loan), and need to buy a camper as well.
This will also leave me enough room from some mods and any repairs for the truck (99% I can do myself).

So while I am deciding on either a full size camper or a popup camper. I need to decide on the truck.
My job is mainly work remote so this will also be my daily driver when I need to go anywhere.

Now that the information done.
The question is what do you suggest in the truck. I have been looking as far back as the '80s - early 2000's (not afraid of older either). Short bed 6.5', long bed 8'? I would prefer at least an extended cab. While I have had mainly Fords most of my life, I have have GM and Dodge vehicles as well. So not overly picky on brand of the truck.

Or should I just say screw it and get a older Tacoma with a smaller slide in (although I think they will be way to small).
