Riding with your son, priceless

The scorcher on the way back, where, for the third week on a row got lost and turned a nice 3 and a half hour ride into an almost 5 hour one.

The steed ready for Copper Canyon :victory:

On a post note:

There was no good eating today since one of the crew (not me, neither my son) needed to watch Mexico get totally crushed by Argentina on Soccer :(

After a couple of months of planning, some very nice training rides and making some concessions at home, we were riding el ChePe on our way to Copper Canyon. Thinking about how little time we spend on what we really like. The Jr. probably dreaming about happier things :sombrero:

Even after you take the ChePe a thousand times its still magnificent, as Mexico's only passenger train, it slowly travels through northern Sinaloa Valleys as it climbs to the sierras.

After a couple of hours, as you approach Huites Dam, the real climbing starts.

A particularly impressive part of the trip is the Temoris climb, there the trains churns on three levels as it leaves the cañada to get further into the canyons.

Our first stop was Bahuichivo, at 1600 MSN it saved us some of the long hot summer climb to the mountains. It was our starting place to bike to Cuiteco, were we spent the night.

dia1-6.jpg

After getting off the train, we started to assemble the bikes as more than a couple of locals questioned our sanity to climb out of Bahuichivo on bicycles.

Posing with the loaded bikes ready to ride.

The mighty Mojo and the Jr. looking death serious and ready for the climbs ahead :victory:

The climb out of Bahuichivo is relentless from the start and don't give opportunity to warm up, it does feel steeper than in a motorcycle or a Jeep

After climbing more than 550 meters and only having 125 to show for :( ,we started getting into rhythm.

Riding happily on the Copper Canyon :victory:

In no time we made it to Cuiteco, our days destination.

We had managed to get a hold of some cabañas, they looked the same as I remembered from my Junior High years.

Resting with my happiness hiding deeply behind several meters of climbing.

Yep, thats the same safe railway were trains pass flying by several times a day :Wow1:, I just love Mexico.

Some sweet singletrack that we checked out before going to bed.

Your pictures from the train, brings back fond memories of my train trip, San Blas to Creel, in 1994.
