I don't know much about the mechanics behind neutral coasting, or the Astro/Safari transmission. I do know they are built with certain tolerances and the shifter is simply an electronic selector for the gear you want selected, no hard mechanics, and ihatemybike, aka Aaron, would not advocate something that is detrimental the the vehicle.

It's actually incredibly easy to do and doesn't take much thinking or effort. I picked it up very quickly in just a few hours of driving. You see a steep hill coming up (steep grade signs are like Christmas to me) and pop the vehicle into neutral with a simple push down on the shifter, when the grade levels out and you start to slow, pop it into drive with a simple push up on the shifter, and re-apply pressure to the pedal. Neutral and drive and right next to each other so a simple push up and down is all it takes.

Same formula for stop signs and stop lights. Looking ahead and seeing a stop sign or stop light, sometimes up to 1/8 mi I pop the van into neutral and coast to a stop, re-apply pressure after shifting back into drive and you're good.

If you think about it, it really is worth it and adds up considering how easy it is.

As for brakes, unless you're on a really steep grade and gaining a lot of speed you don't need brakes, if you do need brakes for a long period of time use 3rd or 2nd gear and use your engine to slow.

Pop-top camper van is in great condition. I have maintenance records since 2000 and I think I am the 3rd owner of it. Just passed 100,000 miles and has been taken good care of. Includes a set of snow tires (only used 2 months this year). 3-burner stove, double sink, propane furnace, 3-way fridge/freezer all work just fine. Top pops up so you can stand up and sleep above the cab. Table also folds down into a bed so you can sleep 4 people. A/C and cruise don't work. I get 13-17 mpg on the highway depending on the wind and hills and stuff. e-mail or call for more photos or if you want to come take a look. 406-396-6053 I am only in town for 2 more weeks and am very interested in selling.

Once again, not a Tiger, but a GTRV which I think fits in here. This is a good price, I think, given that the pop-top conversion alone would cost more than that these days, so you basically get the camper-interior conversion and van for free. Usual disclaimers apply: No affiliation, just found by scraping Craigslist.

They are pretty neat, a later model awd Tiger is about the only thing I'd consider parting with my van for. I'd do all the same lift mods as my van plus the 2-speed t-case, only it'd have a Husqvarna enduro on the back. :roost:

How much is worth 1994 Tiger, not the pop up but full body, 50k?

May I suggest starting a new thread, include more details, and possibly a few pictures of the Tiger in question.

FWIW, I can't imagine a '94 Tiger on any vehicle platform that would be worth $50k USD.
