Tire chunking?

Today I noticed a chunk out of my front drivers side tire. What does this mean? My tire pressure is not low, nor high. I haven't sped excessively. (<90)

Could it be caused by the heat we have been having here?

Who cares why caused it, what do I do now? Replace my tire? Run with it?

Here is a pic. There is only the one chunk. None of the others are chunked.

That's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. I'd probably forget about in a week or so if it was mine.

As far as what caused it, any number of things, piece of glass in the road, sharp rock, etc.

Edit: Got me thinking about my tires, somewhat an apples/oranges comparison, but here is a complete knob torn off of one of my tires.

Admittedly those are Interco TSL/SX's with big knobs on them, didn't notice any abnormal highway characteristics from it (other than the inherent crappy ride quality from a TSL/SX), not even sure when I did it, didn't notice it till I was swapping my BFG AT's back on!
