Touring with Vespas!

Hey Folks,

Many many moons ago, I was riding motorcycles... I toured all over Europe.... many thousand miles in Africa... Amazing times!

But I no longer have a motorcycle but just got myself a 50cc Vespa :sombrero: Yep, they are gutless... but still tons of fun:victory:

This weekend we took our two scoots out for some camping. I'm in love. The slower pace, the simplicity of a scooter--just great!

My wife has a 150cc Vespa. I love it. We've talked about getting the newer GT300 Vespa just to have a bit more power to open up our road options.

Vespas are awesome.

Here check out the blog of someone I know who came through Panama Passage while I was managing it. He rode around the world on his Vespa. Stopped updating his blog India well before he got to the Americas, but its still a neat read.

It just goes to show you don't need a mammoth sized vehicle to get out and see the country and tour. I'll take their gas mileage anyday over mine!

Most roads in developing countries, including main highways, have a speed limit below 50 mph (80 kph). Many secondary roads have speed limits that are lower still. The small displacement bikes and scooters work just fine in these conditions. They also fit in with the bikes the locals ride, instead of screaming "rich foreign tourist" the way the big bikes do.
