Traded the Taco for a 4Runner

Well we gave it a year, and after a trip to Vermont for some car camping it
was desided to sell the truck and buy a family truck with an automatic for the
wife and daughter.

The extra cab Taco kept being left at home because we couldn't fit two
teenage girls, the dog and my wife in the extra cap. The girls could only take
short trips in the back w/out flipping out(for some reason they couldn't stand
haveing their knees in their chest for to long---Kids nower days).

So last nite went to the Toy dealer in town because they had a 4runner and a Tundra.
My taco is an 02 TRD(white) 67,--- miles, 5spd w/ custom cap no mods yet.
Drove the 4runner and bought after much haggleing, 4runner is 02(silver)
auto, 4wd, limited w/ 69,--- on it. They wanted $16,000, weekend special
was $11,993 and I got them to trade my truck even no out of pocket.

Sounds good, we have ad our 97 for 6 years in Sept and its been a great truck! Purchased it with milesin the low 60K. Only thing I have had to do to it was the timing belt, the usual ignition switch, and fix a door lock issue. One of the best vehicles I have ever owned!

Be sure to post up some pictures.

I miss my 02 Sport Edition, sometimes. I loved my 4Runner(s). The only gripe I have is the TRAC system. It is very sensitive and can be VERY dangerous at times. For instance, light snow on the road, you are at a stop sign, then try to turn with another car coming 100 yards away....then you hear the "beep beep beep" of the TRAC kicking in. All power to the wheels cut out and you are sitting out in the middle of the road with the gas to the floor. Nothing you can do, but just wait till the TRAC realizes it's safe to let the power flow again.

Highly suggest the "VSC/TRAC off button" mod. Oh, and make sure it got the lower ball joint recall done.

Two main things I like about the 02 runner is the coil overs
out front

Taco's and 4Runners have the exact same front suspension. Are you talking about the leafs vs coils out back?

I have two of the 02 4runners and love them. I had a 02 dbl cab tacoma and traded it for a 4runner, much better now. As for the atrac there is a mod out there that alows you to turn it off real fast with a switch i have it on both of my runners. Just turns it in to a normal 4x4.

From 86 to 95.5 runners and trucks had that bar or rod (can't think of the name)
up front for the suspension and you could crank it up or down to get a lillte bit
of a lift. And I know the rear is coils

You know before I decided to trade in the taco I was looking at buying those
wheels because I have always loved them. So I guess I traded my taco for
the wheels. And my 94 runner was that dark grey but I really like the white
or the gunmetal on the newer runners.

Torsion bars thats the name - hate those it limits the lifts and ride

going to pick it up at 4pm today my time. I'm really going to miss the taco
but I guess I got it for me not the family. Now that I wrote that on the forum
does that make me a better husband and father?
