Trailer brakes

I have a trailer made from a Ford Courier bed.
I put a 3500 lb Al-Ko axle with flange for brakes. It does have a 7 blade wiring, as does the tow vehicle.

What does it take to get brakes on the trailer? I know there are electric and hydraulic, but knowledge stops there

EDIT:
tow vehicle is 200 Jeep wrangler

What RagnarD said. Here in the PRK, any new brake install on a trailer MUST have a break away kit. Also any trailer exceeding 1500 lbs must have brakes. Regarding electric vs hydraulic, if you're offroading, I'd suggest electric requiring the brake controller (Prodigy is a very good one). With surge hydraulic, you may get braking when you don't want it offroad!
