almost forgot the "Thank yous"

This trip came together real quick, I called Rob a month or more before and made the proposal.

Rob thanks for the guiding

Grady did a great job motivating the preparation, getting my butt out in the heat after work to run electrical and air lines. Also proved to be a worthy expedition partner, cool under fire. Thanks.

Paul, thanks for coming out to meet us,keep an eye on the SPoT etc... Sorry you got home a day late, hope cheryl isn't too pissed..

Jason- Thanks for the support and consultations, wish you could have made it. I have a quest for you now, details will come.

Erik thanks for taking Kristine, and the kids, it turned out to be a great night in camp. :friday:

Anne- thanks for coming out :D

Dad- thanks for the equipment, keeping an eye on the SPoT, and the support.

Expedition Portal: Thanks for providing the platform for me to share this adventure, and the crowd that appreciate this kind of stuff. spressomon: thanks for the kudos. Next time I'm up, I'll try and hold the gang up there to those Picons!

I can't reiterate enough how cool of a trip it was. Has me plotting......

Better not pass through Reno without a chance meeting over Picons! Plus they have Arrogant Bastard ON TAP at the Coney!

aye

Anytime, dunc....actually I was looking at the map today, I have done some, but not all of the x-nevada between 80 and 50. It is actually more mountainous between those two roads...though pickings are limited in how to cross the rubies, there are actually tons of two-track going over all of the other ranges in between (except the humboldt)....maybe we can try a route that way next year. In addition, there are some pretty awesome hotsprings that I visit rarely between 80 and 50. One more note....though obviously there will be some coerced north/south travel...it is not nearly as extensive as it is up north, so the end mileage will probably be less, but the two track will be higher. Also, after crossing the stillwater range into the 40 mile desert, we can cross 80, and drop down directly into bluewing, where anne can once again meet us.

Rob- aye. I am thinking the same thing. The valley to the west of Diamond valley is pretty sweet. I did a run up there once and it was cool. Paul and Cheryl and Sean and I did a trip down to the Toyabies, we hit a good spring out of Austin, really sweet country.

I gotta move back.

funny you mention that...me and shack did the from the toiyabes-west...was quite awesome...the clan-alpines were way cool, and we had no difficulty finding challenging trails, with a surprise or two. After crossing the diamond valley...hot as hell...we went up some random canyon just wide enough for the jeep to get through....about half way up the ground became damp...a little further there was standing water, around another tight bend there was a 8 foot waterfall. Above the waterfall, the water disappeared again. Was sweeeeeet.

Nice job guys. Rob everytime I pass by your's and Paul's houses (I live a couple of streets away), and see your 40's all dirty, I get wunderlust.

Great trip and awesome pictures. Just be careful, you know everyone will start seeing the true Nevada...:luxhello:

Jack- I hear you on the pictures....I get a little torn on posting things like this for fear of an influx of idiots. I'll keep the SPoT locations to myself, unless someone asks me via PM.

Great job with the thread Dunc. That took way more patience than I posess! I still have to say that this was one of those "bucket list" trips. And thanks to you Rob for actually getting us all out of those roundabouts up near Jackpot! And I am DEFINITELY up for something again next year. You'll have to help us plan out something similar down this way too.

And Spresso... those Picons are what everyone makes them out to be. Either that or I haven't lost as much of my tolerance as I thought!

Actually, Dan is Spressomon.

Locrwln (low crawling) is Jack, friend of Ashfaq, etc.

I keep meaning to, but I am usually on my way to work at 6am, so I don't think you want me pounding on your door that early. I will make it a point sometime soon though.:26_7_2:
