Trasharoo on a 4runner?

I have a 01 4runner with a normal rear bumper with my spare underneath. Is there any way to use a trasharoo without having a swing away trire carrier?

Anyone with a Trasharoo have any insight on how this could be done? Maybe by making the straps longer and running them around the entire back door?

Thanks

Go buy some buckles to attach the ends of the straps to... and mount them to the rear bar of your roof rack and to the bolts that attach to the body near the bottom of the rear door. They are posterior to the weatherstriping.

Attach the top straps to the clips on the rear rail of your roof rack. Attach the lower straps to the clips that are mounted near the bottom of the door. The top straps will provide the load bearing support, while the bottom two will prevent lateral movement.

To open the rear hatch, simply unclip the bottom attachment points and lift up the hatch.

Have a nice day,

We've played around with the idea of making a "C" style clip kit for our bags so folks can strap our bags to their existing hatches. The only problem with this is that some people may over load their bags and in turn shatter their rear glass. Hence the kit not being in production.

That being said, the straps are very long (fit up to a 40" tire) and i've seen folks strap completely around barn doors and around camper doors. Also, i've seen people strap around tailgates.

I'd just be concerned about it wearing away at my paint bouncing around on my hatch. On a spare tire sure, but against my paint, don't think soo..

I don't think it will rub the paint away, maybe put a towel or something soft in between the bag and tailgate.

We are working with Sierra Expeditions to produce a clear adhesive vinyl kit that will apply to your tailgate just for this reason.

That's nice to see. (Thanks again for the Trasharoo Dave), it works great on the swingaway tire carrier on my cruiser, but I've been scratching my head on how to make it work on my Tacoma without a tire carrier. Nice to know I can strap it to the gate.
