I stopped in Desert Center, Ca. Very interesting place. I'm at an old school and they have old equipment out front. Not sure why but I did some looking around. The days ride so far has been pretty good but extremely hot for being almost November. Had to take out all liners in my clothing but still hot. Doesn't help that the sun is setting either so its in my eyes as I head westward on the 10. Whats interesting is that Kaiser Permanente began here in Desert Center. Google Desert Center if your interested in the history. I need to get someday and explore further.

My hotel. I was just east of Palm Springs. Cost $45 with tax and had free internet. Cheaper than Motel 6 next door. Not even sure why I'm including this picture.http://

Here at a Circle K at the junction of I-15 and Hwy 138, going towards Lancaster, Ca; home of Lance Campers. My reserve light comes on at about 100 miles. Not sure how far reserve will take me. Been getting a consistant 72 mpg. But here is the thing, not spending much on gas but with food and lodging I'm not doing any better than if I took the Van. On the first day I spent $18 food, about $25 on gas and $45 on a hotel. Thats $88. I could have gone this far in my Van if I slept and ate in it. So, a motorcycle is only going to save you money if you camp and can carry some of your own food. Otherwise, staying at hotels and eating out is not cost effective.http://

Met these guys at the Loves in Tahachapi, Ca. The guy on the Honda was putting in a 600 day so he could get home from a ride in Utah. The guy on the Kawaski was going up to Santa Cruz, Ca. He has 93,000 miles on his Concours. We talked for about 10 minutes before we had to hit the road.http://

So, at the end of the day I did 360 miles. I was dreading going up Hwy 99 but to my surprise it was the most enjoyble part of the trip. Temperature was perfect, traffic was good, wind was not an issue and was able to watch the sun set plus and to make it even better all the smells from the farming made it very pleasant also. Still can't believe how well this bike does. I mean, its not the ideal freeway cruiser but for being a 250 cc dirtbike it just does amazingly well. I had read from people before I bought mine and said how well it did but it was hard to beleive that a 250 could it, plus be comfortable. I didn't buy it to run Interstates but I'm happy that it can. Yes, tonight I'm keeping it in my room. Fresno does not have the best reputation and to solidify that comment, there were 4 police cars in the parking lot when I pulled in....I guess they were searching some guy on parole....and lucky me, I'm in the room next to him. It was the only non-smoking bottom floor room left.http://
