This thread has been dead now for over 2 years, so I figured I'd go ahead and add something new!
We ended up not moving to Seattle, buying a house in Tampa, I got a great new job, and my daughter is to the age that she wants to camp!
The truck hasn't changed much, the BFG KM's finally failed after about ~35k miles:
I ended up replacing them with Milestar Patagonia A/T's in 245/75r17. It's a very mild (and cheap) A/T but has honestly surprised me.
I finally got around to taking care of the frame rust I had. I used
Corroseal Rust Converter and then top coated with Rustoleum. The results were amazing and have really held up well, I can't say enough great things about it.
This is what I was starting with:
The end of the frame rails were the worst part, the previous owner had tie down points for what I believe was a slide in. As I was taking them off it looked like they had been trapping water at the the top, it wasn't pretty, and it was a total pain to remove.
This was applying the Corroseal, it turned everything black:
Not the best picture, but this is after top coating with the Rustoleum:
I still have to do in front of the front axles, but by far the worst parts were around the rear bumper.
