Lots to like there, I really like the black vans.

Also really like the 08 and up ujoint bumper design...

For sure, have another rig coming here right now that is going matte black with a ton of goodies and will be SICK! Thanks, bumper turned out nice and we're cutting 4 next week.

Dammit Chris! Quit making it so hard to keep my money in the bank!!!

What lights are those in the bumper?

Sorry!

What is a good source for rear diff gears and lockers? I am about to rebuild mine and looking for a good source.....thanks!

Maybe I confused the question. Are you looking for suggestions on which parts to buy or where to buy? When buying I used quad4x4.com a lot. They have a very informative website.

Yeah...where to buy. I'll have a look and thanks!

To confirm my own thoughts....a shop quoted $1,600 for a rear diff rebuild.....that seems at least $600-$800 to much, no? Looking at other sources....

Including parts? Doing wheel bearings and seals also? Diff still in vehicle?

I paid a shop (heavy truck 18 wheeler shop) to set up the carrier and gears only in my Sterling. Brought him all necessary parts. Diff was already removed. $160 labor.

Rest of the month. Its coming to the Van Life Rally with us, will start scheduling the delivery after that.

We are teaching some classes at Expo so we will be in town. May swing by on Tuesday or Wednesday - think we are going to camp at Pisgah for a night or two before headed to Biltmore.

Chris, I'm assuming your axle rebuilds are rattle canned after thorough cleaning/rebuilding, no? If so, do you have a brand/type that you prefer?

On an unrelated note, I'm sure a lot of you guys noticed this submission on ExPo on your way to this forum but if not, have a read. https://expeditionportal.com/westx1000-the-trials-tribulations-of-a-millennial-nomad/

We all love a little van/road trip porn but are acutely aware that the #vanlife Instasphere images represent a very small fraction of that whole lifestyle. This is one of the first essays I've seen that are bravely honest about the realities of it all. Its a well written and totally relatable read.

Hijack over.

That article I can not relate to.
I have more, do more, save more, work more, eat better, enjoy more...
that must be a poorly prepared vanner described in the writing.
3 years full time van life solid for me, but many years before when I had a beautiful apt in SC I just do van stuff for the heck of it, but sometimes for work out of state.

Anyone who has a bad/poor experience didn't take the time to plan and execute worth a hoot.
