I have recently acquired a Unimog U600 (421.129), I don't have much technical knowledge right now about UNIMOGs but I can technically manage if some provide a hint or guidance or where to look into.
I am facing a weird grinding noise at stall and on the run. The noise disappears when clutch applies and appears when clutch is released. The noise gets louder in 1st gear and 2nd gear and lower in 3rd and 4th gear. Gear shifts and clutch is working fine, 4x2, 4x4 checked and found working good, however, I have not checked 4x4 D-Lock but seems OK. Forward and Reverse drive in high and low range is satisfactory.
I have also checked transmission oil stick which is satisfactory. See attached pic for oil leakage.
