Usa Venturcraft Trail Blazer Trailer-To trim or not to trim!

I'd run matching wheels and tires and engineer a metal lift block that would fit between the independent torsion bar and the the frame thus giving you lift. You can see how the suspension works and attaches on the Youtube video and it does not look to be too difficult to do.

Most Venturcrafts dont have independent torsion bars as in the video. They are independent in the sense they operate independent but they are on one axle as pictured. But you are correct in not much trouble installing spacers. There is another mount point on the main down tube not shown in the picture.

Well i did not need more ground clearance, i just wanted to have the same tire/ wheel pattern as the Lexus.

The 7.5 x 16 is correct, but for a trailer application and the amount of weight that I carry, should not be a real concern!

Good points on the lift, but if I would add the spacers then I would have to address some tent issues!

As for the tires you want as much sidewall deflection as you can safely get for off road travel. E rated tires dont offer any with a 700-800 lb trailer. I dont think you could tell any visual difference with no air in a E rated tire under a Venturcraft.

Yes possible tent length issues. How was it with the 35" tires. When you consider the height of the bed the floor should be raised for most but I will save that is for another time.:sombrero:

Once again I agree with you, however I want the same tire pattern on the trailer for whatever reason!:sombrero:

As for the height of the bed you are correct, but was not too much of an issue for us as much as the tent length!

Cool trailer, I hope you took the tent down after the picture.
I can see some teenage girl driving down your street while texting
and wipe out the overhang without stopping, Look up and say "What was that?"

After further thought I have decided to get the Hankooks Dynapro on 235/85-16"

which is a 32"x9.5"x16"

Here is a picture!

Thanks for all the help!

My thoughts are that judging by the fact your LC doesn't even have rock sliders and you still have your spare mounted in the rear anchor position, the trailer doesn't need anything larger than a 30 or 31 to follow it wherever you go. And FWIW, I have 5 of those exact torsion axles sitting in the garage in case you ever need a spare.

Thank you for the offer, I will send you a pm; plus you are correct, I do not do any rock crawling nor difficult trails.

On the sliders I have the need, but my wife has a disability and I need the stepboards to get her in the vehicle, she comes first!

...and the rear bumper ouch! I keep on hitting it hard, but the tow hitch protects my rear bumper which i will destroy my spare tire one of this days, but that is another story!

One spare will do, ( I hope ) same wheels and now I know I can put does 34"s if I ever need a spare on my trailer!

So what happens when you run over a broken beer bottle and trash 2 of your tires? Happens all the time on popular trails with drunk idiots around, especially toward dusk when broken glass is hard to see. If you haven't already, add an ARB puncture repair kit to your bag of extras in the back, helps in most cases where the tire isn't slashed. I carry a spare for my trailer as well as the Jeep, with only one tire size difference between the 2 I can use them on either in a pinch.

A plug kit is a good tool to carry but 1 universal spare should do the trick especially if you are traveling with other 6 lug vehicles. Most class winners at BAJA 500 and 1000 never change tire and are subject to total abuse.
